Even the lowest wattage inverter will support a PS2, but its worth getting a higher one because you never know when it might come in handy... Make sure to connect it direct to your battery, this is the best and only way I reccomend you connect it, its more work but pays off in the end...

I would think you would need way less than that. I would guess that a ps2 uses less than 50 watts. Maybe it says how much power it provides on the power supply. I'm told that different versions have different power requirements. Here's what you need to drive. ps2 power supplies [richspsxparts.com] you can see that there are two versions.
140 can power it but you'll have problems with it shutting off after playing for a while. So far I havent had problems with my 400 watt vector power inverter.
as for the sounds going to your car speakers, it depends on what kind of cd player you have...on mines i have an aux. input to run the audio cables from the PS2 to my cd player...if you dont have an aux. input, then your gonna need a FM modulater...hope that helps and that i make any sense...
i think that it is the inside part that converts the wall voltage of 120 to whatever the ps2 uses to run. i think that it is a replacement part.
Correct. the PS2 runs off of DC like all computers. Seems silly to use an inverter to convert your cars DC to AC only to convert it back again to DC, doesn't it? You don't have to.
