Celica Forums General Discussion Engine and Performance Problems arising after battery change help

I changed the battery on my 2002 Toyota celica. Was told it needed a 24 shell battery from Walmart after replacing it my ac and radio doesn't work and some lights on the dash. Have to use manual override to shift gears. Went to auto zone and they told me it needed a 35 shell battery replaced it with that still the same problem. I checked the fuses they are all good. Had the alternator changed a few months before this happened. What can be the possible reasons for these problems? Thanks

Did you check the fuses on the inside center-junction fuse box or just the one in the engine bay?

Seems that #12 (32. RADIO 15 A: Car audio system) might have been shorted during your battery swaps. And possibly others may have also.

There are spares located in the engine room fuse block. use those to test the devices in your car that are not working. A fuse may still look good on visual inspection, but could actually be blown. Electrical problems are usually some of the worst to diagnose, but you have to start somewhere.

I checked the fuses and switched those out with the spare and brand new ones but still have the problem

Simple answer your Celica has lost temporarily the key chip memory to bring it's memory back follow this simple steps it did work on my gen7.

1) Open the bonnet and lock the doors manually on the passenger side

2) remove the negative cable wait minutes 3 don't connected back yet.

3) open the driver door only manually press the brake 15 times to drain any power left in the ecu and then lock driver door manually.

4) reconnect the negative terminal and make sure is not loose same with positive. Close the bonnet wait view seconds the ecu to recognise all the memories.

5) finally unlock with your Celica remote that should sort out your issue
