Just wanted to say hello and introduce myself. My name is Robert. I just recently purchased a 2001 Celica GT. I purchased it from a friend who was the original owner. When she purchased the car it had 10 miles on the odometer. It only has 171,000 miles on it now. She has kept great care of it for the past 15 years. It has Ruff rims with nitto 215/40r17 tires. Alpine DVD player. Two amps with mids and highs. I will post a pic but please don't be too critical. Lol. I have to decide to make this my project daily driver. But once I get it detailed nice and picture worthy then I will post better pics.

I have been and will continue to search through some of the threads. I have really enjoyed what I have seen so far. There seems to be a lot of info available here.

I would like to meet other Florida Celica owners.

Greetings from a (new) Celica GTS owner on the Gulf Coast (Gulfport Mississippi). Mine is actually the same color and is going to be a daily driver also. Seems like there are a decent bit of helpful people here and a lot of information to learn, even if it is a little slow paced.

Welcome kingkasheeti to the forum. I have also noticed it's rather slow responding myself. lol. There is a lot of useful how to located here. So far I have replaced the spark plugs, painted the brake calibers, painted the plastic engine parts under the hood and changed the oil to sythentic. There is so much more here also.

Congrats on the gts. Although mine is only a GT it is still a fun daily driver.

Welcome RobW and KingKasheesti! Robert, I like those wheels on your silver Celica!

It is true that the discussion forums are a bit slow right now. They pick up and then slow down again.

CelicaHobby is one of my enjoyed pastimes, for two reasons;
1) I get to share tons of information (guides, photos, discussions...etc) with other enthusiasts and people who are just looking for a solution to their current Celica issues.
2) I'm one of two people currently writing this forum software (UBB.threads [ubbcentral.com] / UBBDev [ubbdev.com]). Having a live forum with very active visitors, with a lot of unique content types, makes that job fun.

I'm here every day, and if I can, I will answer the Celica questions that are posted. I'm also happy to read posts by others when they have answers or comments to posts.

The current visitor count you see on the top page is correct. So people are reading your questions.
Its possible that the current discussions are a bit slow because people tend to visit this site for Celica related answers -- and with a minimal amount of searching, CelicaHobby is a massive resource for those answers.

Again, welcome! cheers

Thanks for the welcome from you both! The GT is still definitely fun to drive and still looks just as nice as the GTS. My friend's old GT is what got me into Celicas originally.
I have only done a few minor cosmetic things so far, however I have a lot of parts ordered and on their way. Mine came with 17" Sparco Tarmac wheels (gunmetal) and an aftermarket stereo in it. Arriving tomorrow will be Tanabe DF210 springs and KYB AGX shock, and arriving later this week or next I will receive the Performance FC - however I will not be installing that until I add a few other performance mods since it will need a tune. I'll upload some pictures later, just don't have any on my computer yet!

Sounds like some fun. To be honest the springs are my next project on my car. Still debating if I want to lower it two inches to change the stance on my 17 inch rims. I am little older and taller. I am 44 and 6 ft tall. Not big but still getting in and out of the car feels like I am falling into the seat and if I lower it with springs then it would be that much lower then it already is. Lol. But that springs snd shocks are my next project also. I already have a decent system in it now but will probably upgrade the subs in the next month or two. Looking forward to seeing pictures.

Unfortunately the pictures I could upload now would be of the car wrecked. Someone ran a red light and totalled my Celica late Tuesday night. The engine only had 60k miles on it so I'm planning to swap the engine and transmission into this other Celica at my buddy's mechanic shop. Hopefully it all works out, I had full coverage so I should be getting reimbursed to some extent at least if the other guys insurance doesn't cover it. But I've ordered too many parts for the Celica already I think it would be dumb to not get another one. They're fun to drive too.

And I understand the height situation, I'm 5'11" and with shoes on I make it right at 6' and it is a struggle getting out of the car. I was hesitant at first but I think the car will look even better with some of the wheel gap closed. And a 2" drop is still pretty practical for use as a daily driver instead of slamming it to the ground. If I get some photos uploaded I'll send some before and after the wreck pics.
