Celica Forums General Discussion Engine and Performance Valves

I have a 2002 Toyota celica get and I have one last problems with this car. Around about 3 rpms and up I start to get this ticking noise but when I let of the gas it goes away only when it hit 3 and higher. I think it's one of the valves but need second opinion

Hey man, I have the same issue with my celica. I went to Toyota for an inspection and they told me it could be 3 things. 1. piston slap, 2. valve issues, 3. timing chain. They basically told me that my engine was done. I'm getting an engine swap this Friday. I'm thinking of selling my celica after my swap and get myself a Toyota MR-S with a 2zz-ge swap.

Thanks I already but a crankshaft with bearings we checked out the timing chain and my dad who was helping me out said the pistons were good I just hope it isn't the pistons the motor has slot of power but IDK this is my first engine job at least if it's the valves It wouldn't be that hard to do

i have the same problem its a bad lifter just get your valves adjusted
