I have a GTS and have done hours of research through forums, google, manual etc and continue to find conflicting information about where the jack should go.
Picture Album of my underbody area where I have been jacking the car. I also have pointed out with a green tipped rod where I believe the jack is supposed to go according to the pics. Lastly, I included some shots of my jack to see if it is acceptable/safe.

Many people say that the semi circular indented portion right near the tow hook (that has 3 bolt heads in it) is the right spot but the manual and yellow celica jack diagram seem to be pointing at a location further down from the tow hook, inbetween the engine & gear box (the area I am pointing at in the album with the green marker).
Today when jacking my car I heard some pops and creaks which got me a bit concerned because I want to be safe and also not damage the car. I need to replace my clutch so I need to be able to jack the car up in a position suitable for that. I use my jack stands on the pinch welds as shown in the service manual (the cut out areas where the stock emergency scissor jack goes).
