My Wife has a 2001 GT-S. We are in the process of selling it. It has TRD badges and stickers but no body kit. Does it need to have body kit to be genuine and what are the other aspects that set a TRD apart from a normal GT-S?

As relating to the 2000-2005 Celica, sold in North America; In most cases TRD products are considered aftermarket parts, usually installed as an add-on package by the dealership or as replacement parts at the request of the buyer.

In 2001, the TRD add-on parts that were available for the Toyota Celica were:
"TRD Body Kit," which became the "Action Package" in 2002
TRD Wing w/third brake light
TRD Wheels, Standard Toyota 5x100 bolt pattern with TRD Logo displayed on center hub
TRD Gauge Cluster
TRD Sport Shifter
TRD Hi-Flow Air Filter
TRD Oil Filter
TRD Sport Exhaust in standard or extended length
TRD Off-Road Exhaust (Kazuma, IIRC)
TRD Suspension Kit, which included Lowering Springs & Shock Absorbers/Struts
TRD Rear Sway Bar
TRD Fuel Door Cover
TRD License Plate Frames, Raised "Dome" TRD Badges and TRD Chrome Decal Emblems, TRD Vinyl Stickers, TRD Wall Clocks, TRD Hats, T-Shirts, Sun Visors... and many other miscellaneous TRD apparel and vehicle appearance accessories not specific to the 7th Gen Celica

There were also "Toyota Sport" accessories sold, such as seats with a red trim ("Panasonic Edition" or "Tsunami Celica," as it was sometimes called in Canadian marketing), and also a steering wheel with red trim/accents.

There were a few other TRD products available for aftermarket purchase, but nothing sold together as a complete "TRD Celica" from Toyota in 2001.

If you have a TRD Badge or stickers on the back of your Celica, where the "GT-S" or "Toyota" logos are commonly found, you might want to take that up with the previous owner of that vehicle, since to my knowledge, Toyota never sold a 2000-2005 Celica in North America with that style of branding.

The only 'real' TRD Celica is the Sports M Edition, which was never released in the US and has a different body kit. None of the other models had TRD badges.

If you have TRD parts on your car, they were installed by the owner, not the factory. You don't have a TRD Celica.
