Hi guys,

Bought a celica off my friend a while back, it's the 1.8 VVTi, had a cracking exhaust manifold, had this replaced.

It had a CEL, but I figured that would be solved when manifold was fixed. Whilst running with a cracked manifold, the car hit lift and performed perfectly (best thing I'd ever driven, LOvE IT!).

Now I have a CEL, bounce of 6000 and meh....

I've replaced the 02 sensor that my engine codes suggested, reset the codes. After 15 minutes, CEL is back....

My air box is jammed open at the moment (flap was jammed closed), and I have a screw in the sucker pipe that connects to the air box. I've heard from many celica club members they use this setup with no problems.

I'm running out of cash and ideas on this one... I don't think I'm too far off my lovely celica being up to scratch, I'd really appreciate some advice!

Thanks in advance.

Zach

The Celica GT, VVT-i (1ZZ-FE) 1.8Liter 140hp does not have lift.

What is the CEL CODE that you are getting?

A simple and totally crazy but often overlooked "fix" for the common O2-sensor (also MAF related) CEL code tripping is a leak in your current gas cap washer. If your gas cap hasn't been replaced in 10 years and your Celica is parked outside often, this could be a simple $10 fix to many trouble-shooting head aches.

Again, I know it's a crazy suggestion, but it's often the typical one thumbsup

What CEL CODE is your Celi throwing?

Hey Caffine,

Thank you for the swift reply! The error code is P0135.

Sorry, this is the t sport, 190 bh.

How do I tell if the gas washer cap is doomed?

Thanks!

Something random, but have a look at the #19, EFI No.2 FUSE in your engine room's fuse box.

If it's blown, replace it. reset your ECU. hopefully your CEL wont come back.

Hi Caffeine, not sure if we are getting somewhere here, but!!!

The fuse is not blown in slot 19, however this is a 10a fuse, not a 7.5a fuse. Now I know the ECU is working on resistances etc for the O2 sensor, could this be the problem? Or would that not make much difference? Also, the gas cap washer, we talking the fuel cap?

Thanks for the help matey, appreciate it!

Scrap that, all that is going to do is allow components to burn out I guess frown. Hmm...
