I have a 5 speed 2003 Celica GT VVT-i with the action package. Everything is stock so far and I am looking to get a few extra horses and a good sound. For my first mod I was looking to get an after market intake for my Celica. For this post, I am only looking for good feed back and your thoughts (positive or negative). BTW I'm basically looking for a good sound because i'll still be slow no matter what spineyes
Questions:
What makes better sound? K&N SRI or Injen CAI?
What do you think looks better in the engine bay? SRI or CAI?
Is there any point in getting a CAI for that 2 extra horse power? (Because of pain of cleaning and installation and risk of Hydro-lock)
Do you only hear the "great sound" when you floor it?

The SRI will have a louder more throaty sound than the CAI. One reason is that its a lot shorter than the CAI and personally it looks a lot better. The CAI is too long plus you usually have to run it down inside the bumper closer to the ground which makes it closer to all that water. Id say go with the SRI if you want the sound and looks. Thats my input, good luck

For CAI - Unless you're driving through a lake of water, driving in the rain won't hydro lock your car, but it can reduce the filters breathing ability though.

For SRI - Unless you're driving through in hot (100+ degree) stop & go freeway traffic, this intake's location wont really be affected by heat-soak.

Ultimately, SRI if you want your engine bay to look full and a give slight boost in performance. CAI if you care more for just the "always on" performance gain.

i have my injen cai, it has this sucking sound which i like. covers up the engine sound. they sell these covers for the filter that blocks out water but still let air go through. also keep filter cleaner
