So you're having problems idling and you've got a P1349 code (Variable Valve Timing System Malfunction Bank 1).

Have you tried to correct the problem that is triggering your Celica's CEL/SES Code?

Quote
TOYOTA OBD-II P1349 CODE
Variable Valve Timing (VVT) system controls the intake valve timing to proper timing in response to driving condition. The Engine Control Module (ECM) controls Oil Control Valve (OCV) to make the intake valve timing properly, and, oil pressure controlled with OCV is supplied to the VVT controller, and then, VVT controller changes relative position between the camshaft and the crankshaft.

- Dirty or low engine oil
- Valve timing
- Oil control valve
- Variable Valve Timing controller assembly
- Engine Control Module (ECM)

0-60mph time on a manual GTS is about 7 seconds. GTS Auto is probably a little slower. Maybe 8 or 9 seconds.

reply to administrator no i havent tried to fix it yet because i dont want to buy a 400 dollar gear and that not be the problem. although i have bought a new vvt sensor and the check engine light was gone when i installed it untill the car warmed up drove it a minute check engine light came back on so.. i dont know. toyota said they would charge around 450 in labor to change the vvt gear and some other wierd thing. but when i get to 6500 rpms the boost kicks in until it shifts at 8000rmps so the gear is working right? if im still getting the boost? and it is an automatic by the way
