no complete guides that I know of, just outlines in various posts on that other Celica site. If you've changed clutches and/or flywheels on other cars, you should be fine using the service manual diagrams. I got all the relevant diagrams I needed from this site in "Tech Info". I personally thought it was a good idea to use a torque wrench and torque everything to spec.

thanx QTRMLR, i was looking in the installs section, do you really have to remove the engine to replace the clutch. is this a practice designed by boardroom mechanics but doesn't need to be done in reality or do i need to set aside a weekend to do this?

I got mine at Pep Boys for $20 I think. It's nice and solidly constructed too. Maybe it was a special since I've seen others in the same aisle go for $50 and up.

no you don't have to remove the engine, just remove 3 motor mounts.

You should set aside a weekend especially since it's the first time. Illusive and Boosted2.0 (on the other site) can do it in 5 hours without powertools or a lift, but that's highly unusual.

The important thing is to make sure that not only do you have the tools to complete the job, but you have all of the tools and parts for maximum safety. An engine crane/cherry picker would be one thing, and also (8) Toyota flywheel bolts. As mentioned, also a torque wrench.

My clutch came with a throwout bearing so I replaced the old one as standard practice.

A clutch alignment tool should make the job easier. If your clutch doesn't come with one, you can order one for a couple bucks from a company that sends them out with their clutches. I just walked into Clutchmasters in Rialto, CA and picked up a clutch alignment tool.
