yeah i think you want to change wouldn't own a celica to didn't own a celica. for your question though it takes a good bit of damage for it to be considered totalled
and now only buying the car but you would spends thousands in repairs so your really just stuck with buying the high milage one. hopefully just highway miles and if it was maintained well its not a biggy. toyota engines run forever. but like ther others said i would spends that 10 grand elsewhere. maybe an FD if i could find one for that low. a beater car and a nice street bike
not true... if the air bags are blown OR if the frame is bent.. they will total it...
my celica is a salvage title... all it needed when we fixed it was air bags, a rim, tire, fender, and a headlight... i wouldn't call that a good bit of damage.. the Hood
wasn't even bent!
so to answer your question... if i was in that position i would get the salvage titled celica... because i WAS in that position... and i DID... haha
i've had air bags go off in my car and it wasnt totalled just wont pass inspection until its replaced. i also dont see how the air bags went off if the damage was little. and your front bumper wasnt damaged? also did your windshield crack from the passanger air bag? btw if insurrance didnt pay for that it would have cost thousands of dollars to fix. air bags alone cost a lot have them installed any damage to wind shield and dash they did. fender, and paint and the wheel is prolly like 4 grand easy.
yeah the front bumper was damaged too... i forget about that part because of the body kit... i was gonna buy a new front bumper anyways... but maybe it differs by state or something... but in Pennsylvania, New York, & Maryland if the air bags deploy the insurance company will automaticly total the car... that's the only explanation for why my car was totalled.. because it was NOT wrecked bad...
no my windshield wasn't cracked at all... airbags from toyota for the celica cost $1800... but instead i bought a parts car that was rolled (air bags don't deploy if the car rolls) for $2000 and used those air bags... the parts car also came with good rims and tires (but i got aftermarket ones anyways) now i can sell the parts off that and make my money back from the parts car
the only thing i really had to buy (after the parts car) was the headlight, fender, and the front bumper... the fender was like $150, the headlight was $100 and the bumper was $495 with the rest of the body kit... so really.. had i kept my celica stock it would've cost me around... lets add this
$3000 Celica GTS 6 speed 25,000 miles
$2000 Celica GT parts car (used air bags, tires, rims)
$250 Front bumper cover (i'm just guestimating that one)
$500 Paint and labor? (I dunno how much that costs cause we do everything oursleves)
Grand total: $6000 for a Celica GTS 6 speed with 25,000 miles (loaded)... r-title or not that's one hell of a deal...
oh and lets not forget... since i bought a parts car i will make some of that $6000 back by selling parts... you can't beat that...
