Ok so about 4 weeks ago my passenger side brake started squeelin... It was about time for new pads anyways so i picked some up and threw em on verything was great.. Now its doing it again. Its only when i mash on the break lightly if i really get on it to stop theres no squeeling, so i am thinkin maybe its those metal spacer thats on the brake. are those things really necessary? Anyone had this problem? Any Info would be great

go down the the parts store, and pick up a packet of anti-squeal brake grease. it goes in between the pads and the plates. i used it on mine and it helped a lot. the stuff only costs like 3 bucs. that's the best i can do.

Its not good just to throw a new set of pad on a car without resurfacing the rotors. Your rotors and pad need to be both done at the same time because pad material actually transfer to the rotor, making a better friction surface, which means better stopping. If you replace just the pads, its a different material then the material that was already transferd over to the rotor, making the friction surfaces different and actually reducing stopping power. You're rotors will also start to glaze if you don't turn them, which means they get really smooth, and this can also cause them to squeak and not stop as well..
done just keep replacing pad or adding that anti squeal crap..go find the source of the problem and then you won't have to deal with it again..

Yea i had the rotors turned too.. I think its one of the metal pieces that goes on the outside of the pad.. I think those are just spacers?
