i've never heard of this swap before, not to mention if it compatible. but if it is, your better off dropping the sr20det or maybe an rb26(something like that) grin

You won't need a new tach, but you may want one.

the 240sx's here have no balls...I believe they are torquey jeep engines...if you can get an actual silvia engine, that would be sick! if it is, then more power to ya.

i think you need a compatable drivetrain and tranny...

neither the ka24 or the sr20 will fit in the celica's engine bay. as far as which one it better is something of debate between the owners of those engines. for those of you who have never driven either, you shouldn't make opinions before you've felt the power

I would do some SERIOUS research on this before you spend the G on this engine.
It is a rear wheel drive setup. The transmission on a front wheel drive car is on the side of the engine and on a RWD car it is behind the engine. You will need a lot more than just what he is offering (from what you said in the thread). The engine mounts will be in different locations so you will need to do some serious mods. The shifter inside the car may need to be in a different location also. I had a Nissan 300zx and I wanted to put a Skyline NA engine in it and was advised not to because the shifter problem. This would mean actually having to locate it in a different spot. You may have to move it forward or backward more. SOOOOOOO... unless you can have someone shift from the back seat for you I would ask your friend if he has thought of any of that.

the 240sx is rwd so the tranny wont work you would need a infiniti g20 fwd tranny he might be able to fit it in but nowhere well your car be legal, it is ILLEGAL EVERYWHERE in the US to swap in a motor from another car manufacturer and from a year older then the car's body model, so if you really want the swap that would be strictly an off road use car. You'd be better off just buying a 240sx shell and throw the motor in there and keep the Celica as a daily driver.

well this is interesting to say the least. first off the rwd thing is a definet
problem. also the stock 240 has a inline four so there is no way it would fit without some huge modding of the fire wall.. my cousin has a 240 and the front end is twice as long as my celica. not to say not to do it but there is a lot more to this than just moving a couple of engine mounts. also a stock 240 is not gutless it has a repectable 165 horse and pleanty of tourqe from a 2.4 liter engine and beaing a rwd car can be very fun and entertaining to drive even in the autmatic form. obvisouly a sr20 being a smaller engine with more horse would be more desirable though.

I have seen in Sport Compact Mag where a guy transplanted a V6 Solara Engine in the 92 MR2 and added the TRD Supercharger. This car was awsome. I would think if this swap was possible you could do this to the celica as well. The article gave little insight as to the actual mods other than saying some minor mods to the motor mounting assemblies. Anyone got any ideas?
