OK, I messed up. cry

Tried to change color on the a/c light. Put things back together, but now there is no light for the a/c controls, lighter and the shifter. The ligther works. There is no power coming to neither the a/c lights nor the ligth for the lighter (checked with a volt meter). Checked fuses, everything OK. cry

Checked the threads here (did a search), find out that other have had the same problem.

But did any find a solution?

Thanks!

What color were you attempting to change them to? I would suggest using LEDs, that is how I have mine lit up (and if it is done right, there are no "hot spots", just nice, even blue light). If you decide to go this route (which I would suggest because it looks way better than any other solution I have tried), let me know if you need help/advice.

I am using blue LEDs. But everything died. cry

So for now, darkness reigns in that part of the car.

Is your dimmer working on these lights? I did the connection, it works, but the dimmer control does not work on the shift lighs, a/c controls, only on the gauge face.

I had the same problem!!! It happened after my alarm install (I didn't install it - it was installed professionally). I'll try this out either tonight or tomorrow and I'll let everyone know how it goes!

Thanks, guys!

At least I have lights for A/C controls, shift etc. And these lights are fairly dim anyway. The dimmer works for the gauges, so that is good enough for me. Saved me a lot of $$ not having to take the car to the shop...

Well... I spent 2 hours at Toyota today and my mecanic was as stumped as we all are. best he could do was the jumper thing in the links, but I'm going to take it over to his house were he can work on it without the worry of getting in trouble. basically from what I gather there is a bad ground somewere. But it dosnet seem like its somewere you can find by taking the lower part of the council out. All in all its awork in progress.

Same problem here. The dimmer for the face gauge used to work, even when I did the ground joining explained in a post above. But yesterday the dimmer quit on me, and also lost the lights for the light on/off and wiper handles.
