hey all im a noobie lol i geuss you all geussed, i have a silver celica GT(i think) its a 2005 model.
i am from australia, in australia they dont have celica gt/gts they have the equivelint model celica sx/zr i think SX=gt ZR=GTS i have an sx(GT i think)
and i plan to get the APR wide body kit, nice wheels to fit, but i dont know much about engines and such i was wondering what some simple low cost mods that i should buy to add hp to my stock celica while i save for a turbo. also i was wondering if the celica has alloy pistons? and wondering if the auto GT celicas over in other countrys have E-shift? where you shift with buttons the celica's in australia have this. i think its the equivalnt to the porche triptronic gears.

I've heard trd stickers add about 20 hp. j/k. Imo, there's no such thing as a low cost mod to boost hp. A pully ($80) maybe the cheapest but thats only 1 hp. Intake or exhaust, in the $100 - $600 range would be your best bet for noticeable gains.

CAI will give better gain when compared to SRI. AEM Version 2 CAI is pretty good, that or TPR intake if you can get a hold of one.

I would get a TRD Exhaust give your budget.

ohh and by the way i found out that the australian SX is the same as your GTS
so i am the proud owner of a 2005 model GTS with sports shift (E-SHIFT)

No, not effectively.

Anyway, the TRD (Toyota Racing Development) exhaust is a good bet. Also, the TSRM (Tanabe Super Racing Medallion) is a good exhaust, but is louder and doesn't look stock (I think it looks better). If you are going to turbo soon, skip the cold air intake and exhaust, because the CAI will be incompatable with the turbo, and for the exhaust, you can get a custom exhaust made for your turbo set-up for about as much as an already made exhaust, and get more power while your at it. However, if it will be some time before turbo, then go ahead and get the intake and exhaust.

For pistons, check out Wiseco. Google that and looks for the site.

For LSD, C2 Power makes one, as does Quaife. I believe the Quaife is a clutch-based LSD, which doesn't make for a good daily driver (at least I don't think so). If you don't know the difference in differential types, search and read up a little. It's an easy way to make sure you get what you pay for for such a costly mod.

As far as your car, it has a 2ZZ VVTL-i engine? Just so you know, that's a GTS in the US.

ok thx i figured it was, so cold air intake has no point if i get a turbo and no point getting an exaust if i want a turbo. well damn turbo will be costly and if i buy the intake & exaust i take longer to get the turbo.
how much HP gained from a CAI?
how much gained from a turbo running 10-12PSI?

what price range would a turbo to fit a GTS cost i wanna run 10-12 PSI most likely looking at HKS if you know any other good brands let me know thx

A full kit or just the turbo? A good turbo to run is the Garret GT line, something like the GT25RS. They can handle some 300 horses and are ball-bearing, so they spool fast. Check out www.c2power.com [c2power.com] if you want a good full kit.

To calculate the power added by boost, you need to know a few things. First, the atmospheric pressure of oxygen is ~14 psi. Second, you need the engine output (say 180 in your GTS). If you push 7 psi, or half the psi of oxygen, you are in effect adding 50% more air into your air-fuel mixture. Then you add 50% more fuel to cope with the increase in air. You then essentially add 50% more power to your car, which would put it at around 270 hp crank. 10.5psi would be 75% more, putting you at about 315 hp crank. Take this all with a grain of salt, though, it is merely theoretical.

If you lower the compression, get forged pistons and rods, stronger head gasket, and proper tuning, you can push 14, but really any higher and you are tranny limited. The Celica tranny is weak, you can't push insane power out of it. C2 Power has a set of stronger tranny gears. You can send your tranny to them and I believe install is free, but you have to send the tranny to their shop in Hungary and pay around 900 or so for the gears. Another option is cryo-treating, but I don't know of anyone who's tried that.

Let's see. Well aside from the 3800 USD for the kit itself, you're gonna spend about 800 on install (assuming everything goes perfectly, which it rarely does), 275-500 for gauges, 350-500 on a boost controller, 100 for a turbo timer, 400 for a new clutch, about another 400-600 to install that new clutch, 100 on a stronger head gasket, 300-400 for the custom exhaust, 400 or so for lower comp pistons, copy that for the connecting rods, maybe another grand on hotter cams if you so desire, and that's all before install and tuning.

Extractors? I have no idea.

LSD. No, you don't got one, unless somehow you have the TRD Sports Modelista Celica, which I'm 99% sure you don't. You may feel as though you do because our cars handle awesome to begin with. Another way to test for LSD (which you don't need to do, but it is fun) is to take a turn in a neighborhood at like 40 or 50 and listen for tire squeal.

Oh, it's an auto. Well then, yeah forget about the clutch. Also forget about getting the C2 tranny. I'm not so sure about LSD either.

hey combat dont mislead munted turboing an auto us useless and will cost too much especially since he has a gts amd will pretty much have to rebuilt his engine to handle the the turbo
and did i mention the big time turbo lag youll have thumbsdown

munted your best bet would be CAI, exhaust, header, pulley and n2o and even with that fastest youl go will be low 16 in a 1/4

True. I didn't know he had an auto until after I posted most of the stuff. With an auto GTS, you're better off making a show car, because you'll be disappointed with all the money you'd have to pour into your car to make it fast.

i have an auto but it has E-shift with an auto clutch make any diff?
and also right now my car already does a low16 stock i have a celica SX witch is an australian model i dunno if that makes a diff?
i got the chip fixed up so i gan rev out to 4500-5500rpm then let off the breaks and also sports shift is apparently as fast as the manual i have read at a toyota web pag so...
