well, i dont often do this, but is it ok to freewheel just before you stop if ur going at a relatively slow speed? will it do any damage to the gear or anything?
btw, incase you dont know wat freewheeling is, which im sure most of you know, isnt it where you drive in neutral or when you have the clutch engaged? Correct me if im wrong..

You mean when the car is not in gear? Like if your coming to a stop and you put it in neutral? I always put the car in neutral everytime I step on the brakes.

keeping your car in gear saves on breaks...and helps stop faster

riding the clutch will wear the clutch. But its a habit for me at the traffic lights.

It's perfectly fine.

I had 180,000 MI on my New Beetle and it still had the factory clutch on it!

As long as you get it out of gear, not ride the clutch, and not engage the clutch unnecessarily, your ok! thumbsup

Yeah, you'd be surprised how it can add up. I drove 240 highway miles, and about another 30 city and still had around 1/4 tank.
