All you 300zx fans

OK, here's the scenario: I have a non-op '86 300zx. my friend had a '92 n/a 300zx. he wrecked it but the motor isn't damaged. the motor has about 100K miles on it, but still runs strong. he has no idea what to ask for it, and i don't want to rip him off cause he's a friend of mine. any ideas? (motor is all stock)

thanks guys n girls wave

well, mine's a manual, and his is an auto, and i don't really want the tranny. just the motor. none of the body parts will fit on my z. maybe i can take his rims too... (19 rear 18 front ADR) oh well. i'll figure something out. THanks guys wave

It's suppose to be an awful big hassle to work on the engine on those things, is the trouble to swap engines going to be worth it?

^^do you know how hard it is gona be to find a 91 or 92 TT motor...without buying the whole car? (that was my original plan... 86 body, nice rims and a 92 TT motor n tranny...the ultimate sleeper...)

vampyre...it'd probably be just the same either way. his motor actually runs, while mine has a blown head gasket and a bunch of other problems, but i'd have to have the electrical system completely gone through cause there's a short somewhere in my 86. either way...his motor is newer and makes more power than mine, so my 86 would be kinda a sleeper idunno

guess your right but i almost could have gotten you one if you asked this a couple months ago..his car was totaled and he only needed about $300-500 worth of repair to his engine and you could have had it, sorry mate. Good luck

VG30DE motors i assume thats what kind you have right now , well for a motor with about 45-55 k on it it should go for about 1K - 1500 for the motor itself!

But then again the motor your looking at has double the mileage but it comes with the ecu tranny and misc stuff (basically the whole front clip) i say for price range 800 - 1000 would be a good price since the motor has such a high mileage.

if i where you i believe old school american V8 will fit nicely in there. ive seen a few with a small block and also a big block but the big blocks needed a little extra work to get it to fit. Not to mention the weight of the car with all that torque it can turn into a pretty fast car smile

im currently working on a 72 datsun 510 blue bird and ive kinda scratched the SR20DETT and going with a big block V8 454 cubic inch smile (still measureing and testing right now though) smile
