I'm repainting my GT and Toyota Badge on my rear hatch. Just wondering what kind of paint did you use? Did you primer the pieces prior to painting. Finally, how well does the paint hold up after awhile? Thanks.

definately primer them...paint won't stick to that very good...
i guess you should use a really *durable* paint prone to rain, the car getting washed, sunlight...
a heavy duty almost or basically, an outdoor paint made to last. grin
clear coat it also.
but that sounds awesome, I NEVER thought about his...tell me how it goes and pics when your finished...I may have to do this. grin

paint is going to look a lot more professional and the vinyl could tend to wear down or not stick to it...I am not sure.
I would rather paint.

From...
https://celicahobby.com/ubbthreads/showflat.php?Number=155691

...

remove your front bumper, unscrew the front grill from behind and then pop out the entire grill w/emblem.
https://celicahobby.com/ubbthreads/showflat.php?Number=87485

Now you have two choices;

A) ou can take your chance by trying to heat up the glue WITHOUT melting the plastic, and take the chrome emblem off

OR

B) Buy a whole new grill for $28 and emblem for $11. You can paint the new emblem for $4 or just get them colored from toyota for $42 (they call them "gold package", but the emblems are still plastic and come in several different colors)

...

I decided it wasnt worth trying to take apart the one I had, so instead I when with (B) and bought a new one and painted it the color I wanted...

do it correctly THE FIRST TIME and you wont have the problem I had my first time wave

LET THE BADGE FULLY DRY BEFORE RE-INSTALLING AND DRIVING AROUND WITH IT

Testors also makes a clear primer spray... get that thumbsup
(directions for aplying clear sprays are listed on their website)

Anyone sand their emblems so the primer would adhere better?
