i take it for a drive. the head light are 20%-30% brighter, start quicker, idle better..

edit: before i install the kit the head light is not as bright as the fog light but now the head light is way brighter then the fog light.

here's a question you guys are having or thinking about it.
Q: does it gain more power???

A: to me it feel the same.

Just out of curiosity, what did it cost you to make your own kit? Or did you have spare materials lying around from a stereo install. I thought about making my own, but by the time I would have bought all the materials, it would have just been cheaper to go with the Tuned Innovations kit. So I did.

For the price of the mod, I think it is worth it. It was one of the first mod that I did that deals with the engine bay. thumbsup thumbsup thumbsup

Why does the car need more grounding? I'm skeptical as to the benefit of this "mod".

would there be any extra benfits in running 2 gauge wire instead of 4 gauge wire?

Just use 4 gauge kit. This mod goes great with a new battery.

It's not that the car needs MORE grounding, because it's already grounded. Kits like this tend to replace the current grounding wires with thicker wiring to allow for more transfer of current with less resistance.

^^ I think that's pretty close. I've never fully understood how or why it works, but I know it does.

You may gain some power (maybe 1-2 whp) but nothing you'll be able to notice.

The real benefit is the increase in efficiency of the electrical system (brighter lights, louder sound system, etc.).

Load rating for 14VDC

2 gauge 150A @ 40 foot
4 gauge 100A @ 40 foot
10 gauge 70A @ 12 foot
12 gauge 50A @ 12 foot

The longest piece of wire I used was 4 foot long. Why is anyone using 4 Gauge for anything other than the starter, sound system, or Lights??? Is it for looks? the numbers do not add up!!

Information taken from the Code of Federal Regulations Section 14 (Federal Aviation Regulation) Advisory Circular 43.13-1B REV Feb 02

If anyone has a engineering handbook, one can see that the shorter runs I made will have higher capacity than 70A with a 10 Gauge wire!!

Let's do the math before money is wasted and too much weight is added for the same gains!

I used 10 gauge wires and it worked awsome! I can get away with it because I have the stock sound and lights.

What is the greatest electrical load once the engine has started??

I will run a deticated grounds for my amp and lights when I get around to installing the aftermarket components.

4 Gauge 150A at 16'
2 Gauge 200A at 16'
I would run a set of 2 gauge wires from the batery to amps. In 16 feet of 2 Gauge, 12VDC X 200A = 2400 watts of continous power.

These values are for only 1V on drop, so it will preform very well. I wouldn't use the body for a ground. I would run them directly to the amps, hooking the amps in parallel to the power source. Get silver or gold coated copper wire. The current runs in the outer edge of the cable.

If the engine has factory electrical components on it is way overkill to use anything over 10 gauge on the engine.
