okay today started off well, but all of a sudden around the afternoon..i was about to park so i can get a haircut..and i couldn't get the shift to Park. i was like wtf? then i managed to push it into park...then when i tried to start it..it couldn't start..so i used that unlock feature where you press the button to unlock the car from park...then went on my way. i decided to go to Toyota of Glendora and told them what the problem could be.. they said they need the car for a few hours...but i didn't have the time...but they told me its most be a tranny problem.

anyone delt with this type of problem on their auto.

oh btw: when i'm driving on D it says R on the gauge.

is the gearings messed up or something?

i'm planning on taking it to Toyota tomorrow morning.

My brothers 2000 also had a similar problem. The little silver peice that is suppose to move with the shifter got stuck and they fixed it by getting a new one I think. Not sure why your car wouldnt start up though.

Haha, maybe it thought it was a manual tranny and you didn't have the clutch pressed in.

I had an old dodge that i had to shift at the tranny under the car laughsilly Virgil your linkage is what connects your shifter to the shift lever on the tranny. I would look around where the rods connect to the shifter.

i dont know, but it kinda makes sence, cause you know most of the auto cars if theyre not in park they wont turn on. Like when theyre in D or R if you try to turn it on it wont.

good luck

angry Thats a load of horse shit Virgil they just want to rape you for a tranny you dont need plus two days worth of labor. since your out of warraunty take it to a few shops and get second and third opinions. IM or PM me and lemme know what they say and if you need just the linkage parts I can prolly get them for you at cost grin

How many miles you have on the car? Don't you have 6 year or 60,000 miles drivetrain warraunty?
