Pullies

Thinking about putting a AEM pully or some type in my celica but don't know whats the best brand... any suggestions?

If anyone knows what a pulley does it would be great...it adds h/p and thats all i really know..

the AEM pully is ok. its not really gonna give you any power though..maybe 3 whp max and thats stretching it. think more 1-2 whp.

if you have a sound system or whatever in your car though then i wouldn't recommend it. it's an underdrive pulley so it's gonna rob your alternator of power, so if you're milking your battery with extra things it's not a good situation (even if you have an optima yellow top battery).

for only $60 though, it's still a good deal for 2 whp and its pretty easy to install yourself.

i would NOT get the unorthodox crank pulley (ultra s). quite a few peoples engines have blown or been damaged with these on their cars.

you can get the UR water pulley and AEM pulley and use the belt that AEM provides..but i heard that doesn't do much too...

For the most part the pullies dont do anything, its more of a psychological ass dyno kind of power " i bought this to make power and my car feels faster" kind of thing

Lucky, I heard someone say there were two different UR crank pulleys. Something like a R and a S or something. One is suppose to be for racing and the other street. Do both cause damage?

these are too much of a risk for the little power they provide, maybe the AEM alt pulley if you have no extra electronics

respect the gt-s

the water pully is fine as well as the alternator...it's the crank pully that you should be carefull about.

yup crank pully bad cause our harmonic balancer is built into the pully so when you replace it with light weight one you remoe the balancer causing bad engine vibrations and possible problems. the thing is that the crank pully is the only pully that's really going to give you big gains in underdriving lightening. I've heard crank pullys actually give you pretty nice gains lightening up the drivetrain and all, same as getting light weight racing wheels or something there's a calculation or something like 2lbs off the crank = 10hp or something like that.. alt and water aren't going to do as much, but if you don't got a system and your up for a new belt anyways go for it.
