im really confused right now, i just got a AEM cai, then by cousin comes over and says, your motor is going to go to hell when it starts snowing, cause then your gonna get all that water from the snow inside your intake, he said to go with a short ram. Now i prefer the AEM just cause it sound nicer and looks nicer, what do i do when it starts snowing again??? go back to the stock garage? help me out guys!!

get an ebay short ram? personally I would not get another intake for $200, but I wouldn't get ebay either. best money saver idea would be stock, best performance option would be Injen SRI.

look up your emission laws...but yeah it has no carb sticker but it was tested to pass the sniffer at inspections.

do you actually get inspections up there? we dont ahve any here in florida so we can get anyhting wink i think as long as its not inspected ur all good i would get tpr as well if ur in that situation. personally i jsut got sri and dont have to mess with anythign else thumbsup

So take your CAI out cut it in two and then join it back together with a coupling hose and some hose clamps, so you can convert between CAI and SRI mode. That's basically the secret behind the TPR intakes ability to convert between the two modes.

When the weather is crappy undue the coupler and stick the filter back on the short piece.

The guy in this thread went halfway there when he converted his e-bay CAI to an SRI:

If you don't use a splash gaurd and or cover up your wheel well plastics holes and water repeatedly splashes on the filter, small amounts of water can be sucked through the filter and accumulate in the bend at the bottom of the cai tube and get sucked up into the engine.

just get the AEM bypass valve since you already have an AEM intake.

you are fine with the intake you have
shortram sucks after i have had it, i liked it, but blah.
CAI had better gains, just be careful with where you drive, i've already been through a crapload of situations and everything has been fine with my injen CAI

Whats the difference between a CAI and a SRI, and which one provides better preformance. And which would you reccomend, as far a companies go, I king of like the Injen CAI.

shortram sits in the engine bay...provides minimal gains since it's not getting the best of air around it.

CAI sits in in front of the wheel well, enabling it to breathe much better air and therefore more power.

Just make sure you cover the vent holes in the wheel well plastics and or use an injen heat shield splash guard, that and use a little common sense about where you drive when in rains and you'll be fine.
