Just to clear up whatever...

The Celica GTS grade is powered by an all-new 1.8 liter, four-cylinder DOHC all-aluminum engine that generates 180 horsepower at 7,600 rpm and 133 lbs./ft. of torque at 6,800 rpm. The GTS powerplant utilizes variable valve timing and lift, with intelligence control (VVTL-i) that increases the intake/exhaust lift when the engine speed is high to improve output and fuel efficiency.

The GT model's 1.8-liter, four cylinder comes equipped with VVT-i and produces 140 horsepower at 6,400 rpm and 125 lbs./ft. of torque at 4,200 rpm.

The GTS model comes with either a six-speed manual transmission or four-speed automatic with sport-shift. The GT version is available in five-speed manual or four-speed automatic transmissions.

Celica: The name is derived from the Spanish word for "heavenly" or "celestial".

Celicas are built at the Tahara Plant in Tahara, Japan.

Not necessarily. From what I've heard, the GTS torque curve is very similar to the GT, the GTS just peaks higher.

Celicas have always been DOHC except the 22R's of the 70's
