Would replacing the stock springs with the hotchkiss springs be bad? Would it mess up my schocks, the car, or what? Please help.

all after-market springs will eventually wear down the stock shocks --> time depends on type of driving you do, road condition, weight etc.

i have had h&r springs for almost 6 months now and the stock shocks are still good.

or you can get coilover kits (mighty expensive) i.e. tein that come with after-market shocks.

So basically, I need to change the shocks too. Like TRD shocks with Hotchkiss springs- would that be good.

alright here is my theory...correct me if i'm wrong somebody smile

trd shocks i assume were made to withstand trd springs. i.e. stock springs and stock shocks = no wearing down were they are needed to be replaced. therefore, hotchiks springs (lower drop than trd) will eventually wear down trd shocks.

many people setup springs (any kind) and koni shocks. i heard those are good and i will eventually pick up a set myself.

btw, may be more advised to pick up springs AND shocks at the same time. reason is you can have it installed in one shot, and go for only one alignment. i made the mistake of installing springs first, no after-market shocks. thus i have paid for the spring installation, alignment, and will have to pay for shock installation, and another alignment.

hope this helps. thumbsup

I would like to add one thing to this discussion;
What I am about to say may not matter however most people don't think about this.
If you add after market shocks and springs, there is no warranty on these new products except whatever comes with the new springs,For instance maybe the co. will replace the springs or shocks but won't pay for the labor. That is why whenever possible I say try to stick with trd for your upgrades.

IT IS WHAT IT IS AND EVERYTHING IS EVERYTHING.
