i was reading up on the ecu in one of the post and came across "Resetting". resetting the ecu if you have an intake or an exhuast actually helped to my surprise. it made the exhuast note louder and deeper as well a holding it out longer. the car seemed to have a little more juice too. i went faster without the rpm's goin up as fast. i would advise everyone to do this if you haven't. you have nothing to loose. reply to this post and tell me if you noticed any changes. Note: To reset the ecu, you can pull the ecu fuse out and put it back in. it automatically resets. if i'm not mistaken it's # 15 fuse. to make sure check your owner's manual.

y not just un hook ur battery?? i try to stay away from pulling fuses..especially when you dont' know what they are..

by the way resetting ur ecu won't keep watever you mention for long..after awhile the ecu will adapt and u'll go back to where you started b4 you reset it..people reset it because they got CEL pop up..then that fix it..but other then that, it's not gonna give you anything else..how do i know?? i've done it so many time already, whenever i deal with electricity, say installing cd player or removing the intake..or cleaning the MAF..and yes right after you reset it, it seems like you got a lil more pull out of it but after awhile it'll adapt and u'll be back to normal..

still working... grinwhen is this change suppose to occur? you usually hear about the stock ecu overriding on the later models of the 7th generation. but even that was about an ecu upgrade. from my understanding it shouldn't change. that's what i got atleast from the posts i read about resetting.

it's been two days for me and everything i said before is still the same. confused
what we need is some more people to respond to this post. that way we can really see other peoples views and experiences. it's kinda hard with just two people. i'm not saying your wrong, i'm just saying i've had different results. before long mine may do it, but as of right now it hasn't changed.

it all depends on what was wrong with the car before the reset..

There was nothing wrong with the car before. i was told that resetting the ecu would reset to my new exhuast and intake. therefore, it would perform better. celicafourotwo you were right about it resetting. i reset it again and noticed that it had gradually went back. i could tell when i reset it for a 2nd time. this time it started bogging down, kinda like it would do if you were running outta gas. after a couple of hours it stopped though. thank God!! so whoever did that post was wrong. resetting the ecu doesn't help unless you want to reset it everytime you get in the car. so does that mean that an ecu upgrade won't work for a '00 gt?

I don't know about you but when I reset my ecu the car rpm's bog up and down. It almost kinda feels like turbo-lag when you try to accelerate fast. I've driven it for a few hours and now it feels like it is back to normal but...I can feel the lift again. it feels even stronger now. just my two cents.
