also I dont' care what anyone here recommends because it should be your ears doing the buying not people's opinions.

80% of the people that buy speakers based on opinions are not 100% satisfied with them because they are not what people told them they were.

the best way to shop for speakers is going to a store and bring one of your cds and demo them with your kind of music.

these are the ones I had on my celica before I upgraded.

[Linked Image from kicker.com]

Model R6c
Diameter(IN., CM) 6-1/4, 15.9
Impedance (OHMS) 4
Maximum Amplifier Power (WATTS PEAK) 200
Maximum Amplifier Power (WATTS RMS) 100
Sensitivity (dB 1W/1M) 87
Frequency Response (Hz) 40-4.5k
Mounting Diameter (IN., CM) 5-1/4, 13.4
Mounting Depth (IN., CM) 2-1/2, 6.4

and no they do not fit just in place, you need to make a custom bracket that will give them some depth.

um...yes you're right, you don't care because you're not the one buying speakers are you?

He asked what we LIKED, meaning what sounds good to us.
Now, he posted the thread obviously to find that out, then he is probably going to go out and listen to all of them...
we are not telling him to buy these types.
and he is probably smart enough to do what you just said. grin

True, but do no expect the speakers sound the same when installed in a car.

Very True! I just wanted to bring the list of 100 brands down to just a few to check out. I may like the sound of Kicker over Alpine, or Pioneer over JBL, everyone has different tastes. Being a Bass player I'm leaning toward Kicker I like thick mids and bass over sharp highs.
