Alright, I have the option to either turbo charge my 2003 Celica GT, or get rims/tires and lower it. I am getting a Carbon Fiber hood and have a white car, going for the black/white exterior. I'm not sure if I should just turbo my baby right now or if I should finish off the exterior looks first.

Also, what are the benefits of turbo charging?

Thanks smile

thanks for the input kiss I'm not sure what kind yet, but I know the style - black/gunmetal with chrome ring, should tie in the Carbon Fiber hood, mirrors, and blacked out taillights nicely. I don't want to overdo the Carbon Fiber. LOL, makes me wonder...for those Carbon Fiber lovers...if they make Carbon Fiber wheels rofl I wouldn't go THAT far hahahaha.

Well, I can't find the link but I have a pic of it in my IT mag. The wheel is the Armano Reactor Carbon Fiber Look wheel. Comes in 18" and 19", it's 7 spoke with a polished lip... Good luck finding them! In my mag it says they are at tires.com, but I can't find them there.

The package should cost $1419 plus shipping or atleast that's what the mag says... That's for 18's with tires...

also if your going turbo, it helps to upgrade your internals 1st, like pistons, connecting rods, valves, valve springs, retainers, sleeves, etc... so later on in the future you won't pay for more work then you have to in the future..

How are these comparable? A turbo is about 5500 after everything while rims/tires plus springs/struts are around 1800. spineyes I would say rims/tires and springs/struts and then turbo it once the speed gets too old and your car will last longer then.

get rims/tires, Hotchkis TVS. you can only go so fast. and i doubt you take your car to the track so turbo will be useless and a waste of gas.

my thoughts exactly...i was scrolling down to write this before i saw slvceli's post...they arent comparable at all...you could get a kit, rims, spoiler, hood, springs...lots for the price of a turbo kit

Thanks for all the replies guys, I know turboing it would be a lot more but I have a bunch of extra money coming in and I wasn't sure where I should start. I think I'm going to do exterior looks first and work up to performance, right now I think I'd rather have the looks than the speed. I'll just set the money aside and look further into everything turboing it would require as far as money/time/benefits go.

Id go for the wheels and drop..if you go turbo now, ud be spending a hell of a lot of money on petrol, and itll take you a while to save up for the rims, while if you get the rims and lower now, ull be save up money faster fto get the turbo..well that for ppl like me though..its just a suggestion..

I'm in the same predicament. I'll be in college soon, so if I tried to save for the turbo then, it would take all four years to do it. However, if I turbo now, then I can buy the cheaper stuff over the course of the four years.

Yeah you're right...I didn't think about spending a lot more on petrol. I am just going to do rims/drop and it's gonna be easier to work on saving up for performance after that.

I just found some interesting info on Carbon Fiber rims...http://www.sportscarforums.com/archive/index.php/t-116.html and also found some Carbon Fiber rims since we were talking about them...http://www.onlineshowoff.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=1388&PN=1. <<---This is the kind of rims I'm getting, but black, not carbon fiber, or maybe gunmetal...not sure yet.

well turbo isnt something you can just rush into either. so if you do decide to turbo, you should research A LOT before you jump in with both feet. you should look into whether you would need internals, causes of other blown motors, stuff like that.

just turbo stay at 6 psi forget about internals because those dont need upgraded until you pass like 8 psi imo looks should be last and performance first but really its a persoanl preference for c2 gas you are looking at spending $5,000.00 including install and in a gts i think you will be at 250 hp in a gt i think its like 210 or so, definately worth it imo

5k would be just for the kit and install maybe tunning but i doubt it. Don't forget clutch, misc. fluids and parts, gauges etc. Your looking at 6k easy said and done.

My kit was $3880 shipped, $300 for clutch, $100 for Turbo Timer, $500 for EBC, THANK GOD I AM getting all my gauges for free. Tunning will run like $300 for the e-manage etc.

A turbo kit is more of an inverstment eek

Wow i didn't realize how much money i just spent in the last 2 months eek eek frown

Quick question, is your car still on warranty? Turbo will void that, if you're not willing to deal with that hassle.

Yes stage one is for stock except for the Clutch thumbsup

Gauges are for monitoring the turbo system and your engine, Turbo Timer is for letting the oil cool after shutting the car off, EBC is used for a lot of things, upping boost, controlling Boost Creep/Spikes, Better boost reponse etc.

No, no more warranty...I voided that with overmileage LOL.

I'm just gonna do rims/coilovers, I would rather do that right now, and would be cheaper...plus, now I'm fighting with the insurance company as of today for the amount they want to settle for. Sooooo turbo will have to wait...I'd rather save up enough to get everything I need for it - I didn't realize there was so much involved.

Anyone know how long a clutch install takes normall? Also, when installing the c2 turbo, they've gotta pull the engine, right? So wouldn't it take like 10 minutes to install the clutch because the tranny is removed anyway?

In that case, turbo it is. You've got nothing left to void.

No you don't have to pull the engine to install the C2 kit. What they tell you to do is to loosen the engine mounts and slide the engine forward to allow enough room to get the manifold put in.

I on the otherhand, will be pulling my engine since i am installing the clutch at the same time. I think it will be easier then dropping the tranny and sliding the engine forward thumbsup

Well, whatever, they've got to disconnect the tranny anyway, so if it's gonna be off anyway, they might as well slap on a new clutch, right?

there is a post by someone on this website and they provided great info. if the turbo meets epa or some organizations guidelines( company's product is certified) then federal government says that dealership cannot void aftermarket performance parts unless it caused the damage of the vehicle. if you want to know the exacts then try a search on this website. thumbsup

LMAO sure, spinners, OK! That's something I'd NEVER put on my car! The lambo doors I actually would like to do. Someone's gotta think of a different way to open doors though...like ones that slide up and into the car or something LOL. Just hit a button and step out haha. There prolly is a car out there like that LOL.
