sorry to keep asking questions about suspensions, but i'm tryin to make sure i do this right the first time. louie (trdrida) has a 1.5" drop using h&r springs. on both his 18s and now his stock 15s which he has on for the winter, it looks right on the tire.

a local guy here has an 04 gts, and he swears his drop is a 2.25 but it looks higher than louie's. i see pics of 1.5" drops on some of your cars and it looks good and others it looks like its almost as stock height.

i want to run 18s with a 35 height tire or maybe a 40 if i had to, but what's a good drop for that? is 1.5 low enough? i'm so confused it's ridiculous.

but here's my biggest dilemma: i've got skunk2 springs sittin at the house (1.7 front, 2.2 rear) but i'm afraid i'll have camber issues to deal with. will i?

basically, i just don't want to have a big tire gap. i'd like for the wheels to tuck almost perfectly into the fender, but not touching.

anyone who can help, thanks a lot!

from everything I have heard, the celica has no camber issues...i could be wrong tho...

With any lowering, you will have camber issues no matter what dude. Bigger the drop, bigger the camber I believe. Either way, you'll need to get camber links in the future if you want even wear on your tires so I would say just do the skunk2 for now, or get something similar but not as big a drop. What I mean is, is that the skunk2 allows a bigger drop in the rear than the front, which the Celica is actually higher (or appears higher) in the rear. My suggestion is buy a set of Hotchkis springs (what I'm getting, and ordered already) that does the same just not as huge a drop. Like 1 3/8" in the front and 1 7/8" in the rear. This will definitely allow clearance for your 18s as well. Hope this helps

i was thinkin tein s.tech springs (1.5) all around. i should have put that was what i was referring to.

if i want a bigger droup i could just use the skunk2's i have but how serious are the camber issues gonna be? is it gonna wear tires out like twice as fast or just a little?

Doesn't wear tires faster or anything, just wears it faster at a certain part of the tire. Like I said, either way, you'll need camber links. But with 1.5" and 18's, I'm sure you'll be happy with it either way cause your car is lowered finally ya know. But for me, I wouldn't be satisfied. The camber issue in the skunk2 are probably pretty serious considering that's a huge drop in the rear especially.

you wouldn't be satisfied with what the 1.5? i'm just confused as to why one some people's celicas a 1.5 looks perfect, and on others a 2.2 looks the same. i will NEED camber links either way, even with a 1.5"? what's the consequences of not using them and aren't they really expensive?

You do not need camber links with a 1.5" drop, thats what I have and my shop dialed her in no problem.

I love my drop very happy with the 1.5" front looks great and the rear almost tucks. Sorry I don't have any pics after the drop to share.

how is the ride quality? i'm goin w/ teins and the same struts as you (kyb gr2).

Good, only bounce on shit roads. Big dips like when the road is uneven from paving will kill you, almost cracked my head on the sun roof a few times, Thats an extreme example not an every day issue. Pot holes can give a jolt sometimes.

No ghetto hop and your kidneys will be just fine. I drive 2hrs to work one way and still keep coming back for more.

Not sure how our springs compare but I am very pleased with the KYB struts I would get them again no doubt.

Here is my 1.5" drop... I have 18" wheels with a 40 series tire. BTW, I have Tein S-Tech springs... This is 1 hour after they were installed. They have set a little more, I will try and take a pic in a little bit or see if I have a good angle of it form the pics on took on Sunday, I hope this helps ya!

Thats a camber link, pulls the bottom of the wheel in so that don't bow out at the bottom. A little extra camber is good but to much will feel sloppy and wear out your tires.

Yeah I do too, just not finished with fitting and painting yet. I have the VS1 kit sittin at the bodyshop. Thats the reason I went with only a 1.5" drop because I don't want to be sittin on the ground, I want some clearance.

the hotchkis drop is the best IMO but the tein s.tech springs should look good with your car too cool

Well some people experience some camber at 1.25". I know someone with a Celica that has the TRD lowering springs, which is 1.25" and says she has some camber problems. But if you say you never had a problem, I believe ya, maybe some just don't have an issue.

And no, I wouldn't be satisfied with a 1.5" just because I wanna lower my car to the point where I'm not driving, I'm grinding, haha! Just personal opinions, it's up to you want you really want. Plus, if you don't like the drop after it's been settled, I'm sure you can sell it without losing too much money anyways if you want to chande it up. Up to you man, hope you make the right choice for you!

ive got a 2" drop on my gt with parada spec 2 tires(225/35/18). it looks a little lower than your friends car. but if you plan on getting a body kit then i wouldn't go as low unless you want to crenge every time you see a dip. my factory bumper could take the dips w/no problem, but i just got a veilside kit and it is even lower. about 5" off the ground. there's not that much of a dfference really. thumbsup

i have mine lowered 2" with the Eibach sportline springs and i have 17 with low profiles of course...at first i had 15"ers on it and they looked ok...but kinda goofy. after putting the 17"s it is perfect! the tires still sit just inside the finder and there is about a fingers gap between the fender and the tire...and the wheel well is filled up nicely. when we put the 17s on, the car was raised up about an inch but the all gaps were still perfect. (dont look at my sig b/c it is old!)

hotchkis springs here! waiting to be installed. stupid snow! i'll let you know if i need camber links or not. i didn't buy them because sometimes they can fix the camber at the shop. I think you shoudl go with hotchkis springs. They have a bit more of a drop plus they are less expensive. Better quality. They are the stiffest springs out there. great for drving hard around those corners.
