Last night I was out till 2am and no one was on this long stretch of hwy road, so I stopped and tried to see if I could land lift 1-2 on my bone stock '04 GTS. Well, no problem at all. I revved to 8100rpm (just before fuel cut, as mine seems to hit it at 8200rpm) and shifted as quickly as I can from 1st to 2nd, landed 6300rpm and stayed in lift all gears. It was awesome. smile I tried it a few times, never missed lift 1-2. So for those who can't do it, your not shifting fast enough.

I also then decided to go all the way and see how hard it would pull in each gear, so I got it up to 220km in 5th gear about about 7000rpm and shutdown after that. Car kept pulling too. Its an amazing hwy car, the power never seems to end. What's the top speed on our cars?

Now I gotta pratice launching, at what RPM should I be dropping the clutch at to get the best times?

I got a question for you guys with the sportshift. Are you able to land lift 1-2 or even 2-3? Even if you shift it manually?

Nope the auto only gives you four gears and you cant go past 7800 so you land around 4 maybe?

I think your in the wrong forum by the way...

You should get it checked out by Toyota or maybe your lift filter needs cleaning?

Yes, I just realized I posted in the wrong forum. Oops.

lift isn't a huge difference between regular. it's just got a slightly louder more aggressive sound and you get a slight kick of torque when it comes on it's subtle you also have to be very close to redline for it to even kick in and then to stay in it you have to redline it then shift..

how would it not work, the higher rpm you are in before the shift
the higher rpm you will land in, right?

Yeah but if you are already shifting right before fuel cutoff and keep the throttle on during the shift the rpm's will get into the fuel cutoff and you will stop accelerating.

no...it is not possible with 'e-shift'...the maximum you can shift is at 7800-8000 rpm...and the shift always lands at 5-5.5K...very far from lift

Was this post a joke? No difference? It's nearly a 30 hp difference on a dyno chart. Lift IS the celica's power. 113lbs of torque in the low end, it has to have something on the high end to balance it out. I think your lift bolts must be broken if you are only feeling a "slight kick of torque". You also only have to be at 6k for lift, not all that far from redline, and even then you can run it until 8.3k. Is 2.3k rpms not enough for you that you have to shift immediately? Learn to drive.

One more thing to consider about landing in Lift that I don't see mentioned often here is the fact that once you land lift it dose not actually disengage until your RPMs drop to about 5800.

Swiftcell. sounds like lift bolts ; don't worry they're cheap Toyota dealerships sells them,
lift is 40+hp 140+40=180HP, feels like a light turbo or NOS, otherwise your car runs slightly slower then GT, cause GT has slightly better low-end torque

From 1st-2nd gear is the only issue I have landing lift ,part of my issue is a cheap slippery knob shifter. When shifting at 8300 RPMs the best I've been able on 2nd was 6000 RPMs on my Celica GT-S 2003. What is better to not let off the gas entirely when shifting to second or giving it gas before shifting ? ; the difference is entirely letting off the gas while shifting, not letting off the gas also sounds like it might damage the car or burn up clutch but I am no expert.
