Supercharger 4 the GT

I just went to toyota yesterday to install my Kazuma exhaust, and asked them about a supercharger for the GT. The word is that TRD finally made the damn supercharger. It will be around 3500 bucks and around 300 to install. It will give you around a 85hp gain. This is goin to be awesome.

because the GT sells a lot more than a GTS

I still don't think this is true...but we will see.

just because you see it down there...does not mean they sell a lot throughout the whole US...
sales on the Celica each month are usually less than 1000. which is not a lot compared to other cars.

but on the same token...those who are really interested in performance own a gts (obviously for MOST people if they buy a gt its because a gts is more expensive and if that's the case..then a supercharger is out of the question for 3 & a half grand). i think a TRD supercharger for a gts would sell more than a supercharger specifically for the gt. just my 2 cents

gt will always sell better than gts as long as they both are around...it's like that with EVERY car. the more expensive a car is, the less people will buy. but anyway to avoid the economics class...its just that superchargers are for performance minded people and if you truly are performance minded, most of us would have bought a gts.

no it won't...
the GT outsells the GTS...
when a celica is sold, hardly any money is made off the car.
now, why will Toyota put research and money into a GTS celica when
1: the car does not sell that much
2: because the total number on units sold isn't that much compared to a Corolla and such, why would Toyota want to distribute a supercharger when maybe only half the units sold are going to buy it...then TRD has nothing to sell anymore when no one else buys it
3: the 8th generation is coming out in another year, TRD does not need to waste money and time now for a 7th gen when they KNOW that the 8th gen is going to provide more power and performance which is something they would rather work off of than the current 7th gen.

a GT sells better because the GTS is priced way to high.
that's why the Celica has no sales...each model is priced too high for what you are getting.

this is why Toyota is focusing on the SCION brand, rather than build superchargers for a car that doesn't sell that much and is priced too high.

SCION is their new Gen Y market.

Toyota dealerships don't know anything and what they say is just crap...

[/quote] well yeah..but thats why i don't think TRD would make a supercharger for either the gt OR the gts. i'm just saying that if they DID (and maybe they just might), then i think it'd sell more for a gts (could be wrong...always an option haha) because like i said...if you are interested in buying a supercharger that means you are interested in performance. if you are interested in performance, then you most likely have a gts.

i mean, a supercharger isnt something you spend a couple hundred bucks on and feel happy about.. its a BIG investment. so even though the gts #'s are smaller, the percentage of supercharger sales (i think) would be higher than that of a gt. ah..i'm gonna get carpal tunnel soon w/this topic j/p thumbsup

they make a supercharger for the truck lineup and I haven't seen that many with superchargers...mainly because the people who buy the trucks don't care...

but the one thing that plays a role in this is the age of buyers for the Celica...
I have seen women and older people buy it and could care less about it...
there are a lot of people out there that have a celica and don't mod it all...why?
because they don't care and aren't that type of people

the ratio of young vs. older people who own celicas is off balance IMO and TRD does not need to make a supercharger for the Celica...

YES it would be NICE...
but Toyota does not want to focus on this right now...
like i said...
they are making superchargers for the Scion's.
because they know that those cars are aimed at younger kids like me..being 16 and they want something they can AFFORD yet MODIFY at the same time for the price of GT Celica...

He told me that it IS coming out in 2-3 weeks. That they were called up by TRD about it 2 dayz ago. It would be 3500$ and 300-350 bucks to install, because its more complicated on tha GTs compact engine. And it guarantees an 8- hp gain.

as with all cars there are going to be some people who buy it no matter what age/gender they are. but for the most part toyota celica drivers tend to be young males between 18-25 (according to my toyota saleman anyway) but anyway i don't know what that has to do w/a supercharger unless its that its mostly young males who buy/use them (which is true). anyway, it's all good. peace. thumbsup

it'd be funny if they actually did make a supercharger for the gt...i't prob be funny if they didn't either, though.. this topic woke me up grin
(it'd be even more funny if they made it for the gts..but who knows? its just wishful thinking)

Well, I have a theory about this...we've all heard the rumors that TRD started research on the GT supercharger, but due to the new 8th gen. and the low selling numbers, they didn't follow through with it and kind of let it die. Perhaps the completion of the David Draper Turbo mighthave had something to do with it. Perhaps TRD put in some more money and time in order to finish the supercharger in order to compete with the new turbo. Maybe they're just trying to stay competitive in the market. But then again, I might just be talkin out of my a$$. We'll just have to wait and see, but if anyone hears anything, definately post and report everything new, because I'm definately interested in this.

I'm confused, didn't you say your dad owned a dealership? Can't you ask him? On another note... where do you get the balls to say anybody else is saying is "just crap"? WTF? I'm going to wait a couple weeks and get my answer then. I've now decided to ignore anything posted by VSGTS14.

lol no man you don't have to ignore..
I am giving my opinion
yes my dad owns a dealership...but he does not find out information about TRD products...he has other things to do...
I said I was going to ask my toyota dealership about this.
I quote myself also "only the owner and managers of the building usually know the most information." INFORMATION...could be about anything..that wasn't directed as to TRD products.

"where do you get the balls to say anybody else is saying is "just crap"?"

wtf is that supposed to mean?
From what I hear, toyota dealerships don't know all and it all depends who you were speaking to...
there are rumors inside the buildings and they will do whatever just to sell you something.
so don't give me attitude about anything.
I will ASK MY dealer tomorrow.
but for some reason, I DOUBT toyota did this for the GT...but that's because I haven't heard ANYTHING about it at all...

you can ignore me if you want to...
but i work at the dealer and see just about anything everyday and get as much info as I can.

3500 for 80 horses isn't bad..but its more about how much shorter your engine life will be. 80 horses is pumping a whole lot..100 horses is almost a ridiculous amount of stress on your engine when you have to inject that much into it.

why do you think most ppl only get 30 shot nitrous kits for 4 cylinder engines?? engine wear is a real problem ppl...

I'm confused, didn't you say your dad owned a dealership? Can't you ask him? On another note... where do you get the balls to say anybody else is saying is "just crap"? WTF? I'm going to wait a couple weeks and get my answer then. I've now decided to ignore anything posted by VSGTS14.

allright, grendel. vsgts14 has didnt just get beleiver status overnight (thats a LOT of posts)...usually it should mean he would know a little more about whats going on. just my 2 cents...i think it was too early in the morning to really read too much into what was said.

but yea...3500 is a lot for 80 hp...
the turbo runs 4k+ though i thought for 100 hp?
but still...80 hp is a wise investment to really get the power up...if you have the money then do it...
but yea i still don't know about this...

sorry if i acted a little mean before, I was just trying to prove points. grin

one reason why the GT r more popular than GTS is that the GTS r hard to find. Well I don't know if this is true but this is what the salesman said at the toyota dealership when I asked him about the GTS, because all I could find at the dealership were GT. frown I want a GTS so bad, what's a couple of thousand bucks gonna hurt...o yeah my dad's wallet rofl Anyways, when i get my celi, i'm gonna ask my friend where to get a turbo. thumbsup

i dont think they are rare, i saw many and had the option to buy one but i'm to poor wit the payment and insurance and school, the reason why the gts is more popualr is because it comes with more performance from the factory, therefore people get the impression that the gt is slow, however thats just ignorance, they are both nice, gt just needs to be worked upon grin

GTS is hard to find because Toyota does not produce a lot of them and dealers do not order a lot of them since they never sell and the dealer does not make much money off of them...same with the GT.
but the GT sells more, but the dealer still doesn't make much money.

i emailed the TRD people and they said it can't fit on the celica. they only way to fit it is cutting a 20x20 hole on ur Hood and that will actually void the warranty.
