OK, need some help with choosing some rims. I really like the rims on the car in the photo I've attached. Do you guys think that's too many spokes for a Celica? I have a white 2003 Celica GT.

Also, I haven't lowered the car yet, but I'm not sure I even want to. My plan is to do the rims first, then get a new bodykit. I'm keeping everything white/silver. What size rims would almost fill the wheel wells and not make the car look so high...so I don't have to lower it/buy a body kit right away. I was told I could do up to 19" rims, but also told 18".

Thanks for your help smile

haha thanks for the input smile Yeah I'd like 18 or 19s, the bigger the better wink hehe

I do NOT want chrome BLAH...

So with 18s or 19s I wouldn't have to lower the car/get ground effects? My ex had a Sentra that he put 19s on, it looked so funny because of the height they gave the car, it kinda looked like a mini SUV with big wheels LOL.

Kristin:

With 18s you'll probably want to get it lowered next.

I'm just running my stock 16s, since I'd want to lower mine if I got bigger wheels. I'm waiting to do all that, since I actually (very rarely) take my car offroad (just on a bit of dirt road). I want to get a 2nd beater/offroad type car before I do any lowering. The other thing I'd insist on doing is recalibrating the speedometer for the larger wheel size.

Hey thanks neighbor smile I live up near Bartlett Lake on Dynamite near Rio Verde area up in Scottsdale and I take mine on a dirt road occasionally too...

About how much do you suggest I lower it if I go with 18s? Would you also suggest coilovers instead of springs? Do you know any good places here in town that are reasonable? My uncle has a body shop but he's too expensive LOL. He's not the type that gives discounts to family, I think he increases the price for us LOL.

Thanks for the recal. of speedometer tip smile

thanks celicat23, I like the way those look a lot. If I were to get 19s, is there anything else I would need to do besides lowering the car and calibrating the speedometer? A friend of mine said with rims that big I might have to have the fenders rolled, true?

I guess you can't really calibrate the stock speedometer. I think if I did the whole rims/lowering thing, I'd get a new speedo (one you can calibrate), but that's just me. Your stock one will probably be fine.

Probably just a lowering kit (TRD?) would be fine. You're still looking at quite a bit of money for all that, though. I keep telling myself, "someday", but it'll still be quite awhile until I do any of that.

You don't NEED to get your speedo calibrated. Sure, the speedo will be a BIT off - but it's not like when it shows 50 you're really going 60 or something like that.

Getting your fenders rolled depends on what offset you go with. You'd need your fenders rolled with 15" rims if they're the wrong offset.

I have 8,5x19" rims with a 30 offset, and 235/35 tyres, and the car is lowered 2.4" front / 2.75" rear and there are no problems. SOME times, on full lock, the front tyres rub slightly against the plastic infront of the torpedowall. And if I just glued that plastic in place, it would never rub at all. But it rubs so little, and only on full lock, that I don't care, and havn't bothered to take the time to do anything about it.

With 19" rims and 35 profile tyres + a 1.6" drop the car will sit about (ever so slightly lower) the same height off the ground as the car does with the stock rims and springs. So the absolute MINIMUM you HAVE to drop your car if you're going for 19's with a 35 profile tyre is a 1.5/1.6" drop, or it'll look real stupid (trust me, I saw that on my own car).

And you need to understand that it will be a firm/hard ride.

celicat23, I owe ya one for all that great info, thanks so much smile I like the last 2 rims that were posted, I think I'm going to keep shopping around til I find the right ones smile

I am still wondering what everyone means by a firm/hard ride...isn't that good LOL tongue Just kidding, but really, how will I be able to tell? Will I be able to feel every little crack in the road?

I've had several cars with low profile tyres, and I only enjoy feeling the road that much. Makes me more aware. I like it. But a lot of people don't. You should find someone with some low profile (35 or 30) tyres and ask them to take you for a ride. See for yourself.

Those are sweet rims BATmobile. Thing is, I wouldn't be able to buy them for about a month or so. About how much would shipping be? I'm afraid to ask LOL. I definitely like the gunmetal look on a white Celi, more than the alloy/satin silver that I wanted before, whatever they are called LOL. I'll def. keep em in mind!

If you think the ride is OK with 40 profile tyres, then 35 won't bother you. Between the two, there really isn't much difference as both require you to fill your tires with 42 pressure, instead of the stock 34 or 36 (or whatever it is).

shipping is about 100 or less with greyhound and about 150 with FEDEX and UPS. And i've had these looking pretty in my room for about 3 months so when your ready i'm sure they'll still be here if no one has bought them by then, good luck on your hunt for rims, and please keep the VOLKS in mind.

I wouldnt get 19's if i were you. 18's are perfect on the celi in my opinion. Here is a picture of my car iwth 18's with the Eibach Pro suspension which is about a 1.4" drop Click the pic for a cleaner view

It is the eibach pro kit and i think that is about how much it dropped it. You could also get the eibach sportsline kit but that is too much of a drop in my opinion, its like 2".

My tires are proxes FZ4

There are more pics in my profile wave
