Would a 3" exhaust be overkill for a 3.3L V6? I'm asking because 3" is $50 cheaper than 2.5" per 4ft...and I need 12ft, so that's $150 that I can save

3 inches maybe if it was a v8 but no v6 or 4 unless turboed, you will proabbaly lose power

I ran 2.5" on a 2.0L 16v engine without problems. So 3" on a 3,3 v6 isn't a problem.

Sure you can run the 3" pipe, it would be better especially if you are going to add more parts in the future, and its cheaper. Plus it's 6 cylinder so you need more flow, since most 4 cyl. need 2.5".

3" piping > 2.5" piping.
even without a turbo/supercharger i'd get 3" piping
