Freaking Clutch!

Alright fellow Celica people...i have been dealing with a bad clutch for the past 6 months or so but every time i save up money for a new clutch something ends up happening that i lose the money (this time around it is SB). Anwways...i have told my dad if he would be willing to help me out...he drove my car and he said it was fine but itss nott!!...This is wat happens...ill be going in 3rd gear doing @ 40mph...when i try to overpass a slow car i punch it all the way to the the floor and my RPMs go from for example 4,000 and instantly jump up to @ 6,000 but my car is not accelerating...after about 2 seconds the RPMs drop down to around 5,000 and the car finally picks up...that is wat i tell my dad and he says its fine...he says i need a new flywheel but i say i need a whoole new clutch...so do you think i need a new clutch??? This is my last time i try and prove my dad wrong...oh well thumbsdown

yeah that doesn't sound like the flywheel, more of a clutch slipping resulting in the over rev of the engine then finally engaging and rpms dropping. i'd get a new clutch and if you have the money, just get a lighter flywheel just since it'll be easier to do it all at once.

It sounds like the clutch to me. I had a buddy whos car did the exact same thing. It was the clutch. I agree that you should get a lighter flywheel as well since you'll have it apart anyways.

Clutch is slipping, it's not your flywheel, but you might as well upgrade that too while you are changing the clutch. Maybe you can get your dad to buy you the flywheel, since thats what he thinks it is, and you buy the clutch.
