Hey guys...so here's what happened...I was speeding...came up on a state trooper hidden on the side of a semi...I slowed down right when i saw him and i know he didn't clock me speedin since i was still behind me...He pulls me over...asks how fast i was goin and i say 55...(speed limit) He's like "Sir...HOW fast where you traveling" so i say 55 once again...He takes a walk round my car...comes back...gives me a ticket for not havin a license plate in the front of my car...I was reversed into by a truck almost a year ago which cracked the plate and broke the bracket...Didn't have time to put it on and i kinda forgot about it...Anyway...My ticket is $30.00...Should i pay it and call it a day...Would there be any advantage for me to take it to court? Would this go on my record or anything like that? and He gave me a marandum to send in saying i fixed it...had to send that in within 72 hours so thats sent...But anywho...

Cliff: Got pulled over, no license plate in front ticket, should i pursue??

next time tell him this "sir, you waste your time pulling me over. one of mine buddy is doing your wife right now". it will make you feel a lot better at the end. rofl rofl

edit: do it at your own risk

it'll go on your record as a non-moving violation. your insurance company is only cocerned with 'moving' violations such as speeding, running a stop sign, wrecks, etc. non-moving violations are things like expired break tag, driving without a license, parking tickets...and not having your front license plate.

theres 0 chance you will win if you take it to court and i can't beleive you didn't already know that. all that will do is turn your $30 into the same $30 ticket plus court costs. you can plead guilty to a lesser charge without a trial and they'll lessen the charge (say from a moving speeding violation to a non-moving seatbelt violation). in your case though..there is nothing less than that plus its already a non-moving violation. you have absolutely nothing to gain by taking it to court.

haha at your own risk is right. a female friend of mine got pulled over a few years back for speeding. she figured she wasnt gonna get out of it cause the cop was being an ass about it so she just started running her mouth. the cop said "keep going and i'll write you up a whole list".

she handed the officer a pen and said "better get started"

$1,500 in charges..which were NOT dropped.

moral of the story: just be respectful, take the bite, and fight it afterwards if you must

your professor must've been having a "stupid" moment... because all the judge would tell you to do is pay the ticket... since the law in your state is to have a license plate on the front bumper... and you didn't have one... you have no case... now if the cop had ripped the plate off and THEN wrote you a ticket for not having one... THEN you would have a reason to go to court.. haha

$30 man, if you take that to court not only will they laugh at it, you just give them more reason to believe young guys with sporty cars think they are invincible. You got lucky on that one, pay it and leave it be

The only way a judge will alter the ticket is if you fix the car, show the pic to the judge at his office (say you need to reschedule the date or something)and ask if you can pay the fine so it won't go on your record.

If the Officer ever sees you again he will give you a ticket cause you messed with his qouta. (He is obviously on a power trip) An Officer that is radar qualified can give a ticket by just judging your speed by eyesight. I was a Dep Sherriff and can vouch for that. There is an extensive test for this and they will not let you hold a radar gun untill you pass that part of the phase!

If you have facial pearcing take them out before before you goto the judges office. Also get a neat hair cut. The way you look and carry yourself is your edge! thumbsup

The instuctors get pissed when you ask them why the guns can be pointed at light poles and read 70MPH! grin

^^ is that really true? what if this was made public?

what if? (and probably the case):

1. radar guns are inaccurate
2. cops' eyes are inaccurate or biased (negatively subjective)
3. cops lie

I experienced 2 or 3 b/c I know I was going 72 mph, when the cop marked me down for 80 mph and thus a higher fine. took it to a lawyer and got a parking ticket anyways...but still...

Just pay it. also some cops have radars underneath the rear of their cars. one of my professors came into our class and told us that he got pulled over by a cop for doing 10 over and the cop was in front of him. The cop gave him a warning and told him that they just got the radars and wanted to make him aware of it. That was a few years ago so they are probably pretty common.

I get tickets for no front plate all the time. No biggie. It's $25 here. Most of the time after they give me the ticket they just tell me to put a license plate on the front bumper & I always tell them that I'm not making any holes on my bumper. Then I'm on my way.

Probably some old dusty hippy wanting you to "fight the man" LOL

Old hippies crack me up. Pay the $30.00 and forget about it.

Damn hippies.

p.s. buy a radar detector.
