revving question
i dont know if its due to the fact that the roads are slippery with snow or if its my car...when i mash the gas, the tach revs up really fast but im gaining speed really slow...its like its still trying to grab traction...does anyone else have this problem? like for example, from 1st gear you'll shift around 6 or so then it'll drop down to 4 in 2nd gear and so on...mine goes like..i'll shift at 6 in 1st gear and be at the same rpm in 2nd gear and so on...i have to release the gas to let the rpms drop so my tach wont shoot up...anybody got any suggestions on why this is happening??? i really think bc the roads are still wet, but im hoping its nothing internal...

ITs called hydroplannign. You prettymuch glidding on a thin layer of water. Cars with trackion control comensate for this but ours does not. You jsut have to no mash on the gas in thsoe ocnditions and take it easy. Occasionally i will do it for hte fun, bu only in a place where i cant hit anyhting smile

rofl rofl your tires are losing traction and just spinning, when you're shifting at high rpms you're going to keep losing traction...nothing is wrong with your car rofl

to get better traction in snow shift at lower rpms your car has less power and your wheels will not spin. is this your first manual car? also could have something to do with your tires. our cars are very light so they tend not to dig into the snow very good studded snow tires would help in winter months.

if the snow and ice get real bad some chains work wonders, never had to put them on my car because i don't drive it much when there is snow on the ground, but my friend with an mr2 put them on and got around pretty good in all sorts of weather thumbsup
