F'n Pepboys sucks

Ok i am jsut venting, but yesterday we dropped my girlfriends car off to get keyless installed. They had the best price for the kit and install. Well i guess you get waht you payfor. Dropped it off at 10 in the morning. 4pm rolls around so i call them up. They said they coudlnt find the chart for the 05 model so had to get it faxed and apparently it jsut got there. Also the mechanic was on lunch break so coudlnt get ahold of him. So i called around 7 when the mechanic was sopossed to leave and they said he was having trouble finding some wires so he dindt get it done. I called this morning at 9, they siad he was still ahving problmes finding some hoockup so it woudl be done around 1. Called at 2 and a new guy said it still wasnt odne and they woudl call in prob 2 hours when it woudl be done. I called at 6 to hear "we called you and it was busy" Buy my ass i purposly didnt use hte phone to get the call. So we go and get her car. In kidna a rush, go to unlock it, we hear the locks go but no ligths. The dome light and parking lights were sopossed ot go one. Apparently he forgot ot hook that up. My girlfriend insists it doenst matter and no time. Well i am pissed. So i am going to convince her to go back next week. I called manager but he sint there till tomarrow morning. So going to make an appointment to get this shit fixed. I am sure it will tkae a week for them to fix this part. Sometimes mechanics jsut really piss ya off.

Ok sorry for the long thread and really bad typing. Didnt reread or take my time typing wink Ok i'm done, just had to vent.

Gotta agree with Corruptor. Next time, go to a shop that specializes in alarms. Meanwhile, just try to get Pepboys to do the best they can. Live and learn.

Dude, I understand your reason for venting but you got what you paid for. Pep Boys for an alarm system? Hell no. Shops that specialize in alarm systems have specials going all the time. Hope everything gets fixed. An alarm system shouldn't be too difficult to install. Good luck.

Wait a minute...this was just for keyless right? So all they had to do was crimp on to the power lock button. Those guys at that store are incompetent. If they didn't know which button it was they could've taken out the power window/lock part of the car & followed the wires. Shit I even changed the little SMT LED on the driver window switch to red myself. This is why I like to do mods myself.(I'm a technician though)

yea no alarm, just keyless. It unlocks but dome light and parking ligts dont come one as it says on box. It is fairly simpleand i am sure if i had a day to work on it i coudlnt have odne it. but i dont have that time any time soon. I mena this didnt sound to difficult for pepbyos to do. shoot if i ad them doan alarm it owudl probably take a month for them to figure it out.

Well i talked to the manager and he said to bring it back in and they can see what can be done. Said it may cost more becsue they need to get other relays or some crap. Its my grilfriends car so she said forgetit, its to much hassle. I was going to get mine done tuesday. Well i returend the kit today and am investing in a new sterio wink I will get an alarm donw the road, and get it at a specialty shop to get it right.

They dont need any relays...they need to isolate a diode on the power wire that goes to the flashing parking lights. Depending on the car you also may need to have a resistor inline with the 12v if you want a "pause" from your inside light.

What type of car was it?

My heart goes out to you two guys! I would rather learn how to do it myself than learn how stupid another mechanic is. (That's why I went into the exact science of aviation and not automotives.)
