Getting closer to turbo time...a few questions if you could...

1.)
I received my PowerFC w/ commander and w/ datalogit software and calbes yesterday. I saw from reading on Apex'i site that their is a boost controller made for the powerfc, i was looking around and couldn't find it anywhere. I guess the powerfc can control the boost with this controller and i can adjust it with my commader. anyone know were i can find this?

2.)
Do i need a base map once i turbo, or will it program its self, or will i need to tow it to MWR right after i turbo to get it tuned before i can drive it? or does anyone know where i can get a base turbo map to drive it?

3.)
where is a good place to find injectors for the celica?

4.)
if apex'i doesnt have the addon boost controller, who makes a good one that also displays current boost.

If anyone could help me out, this would be greatly apreciated!

Thanks!

Adam

probably wouldn't want to ride around with a turbo on and no fuel tuning, but then again I dunno if the maf would be able to pick up on the higher flow and adjust. you could probably program it close enough if you can get in there and adjust stuff yourself. dynojet sells an A/F package that comes with a wide band O2 sensor for like 500 that can record A/F while you drive around and stuff like that which would be really useful in tuning your turbo. That plus one of those G-tech thingys and you could have a crude way of tuning it all on your own.

PS are you building a turbo setup yourself? the only thing I don't think I could make in a turbo setup myself is a turbo header is there anywhere to get just a turbo header or would you have to have that made custom?

Here is list of parts I believe I'd need for a turbo setup let me know if I'm missing anything..

Turbo
turbo header
wastegate/boostcontroller
blow off valve
intercooler
ECU
pipes to exhaust to intercooler and to Intake

other things..
ET Gauge
AF gauge

tuning
dynojet AF kit
G-tech dyno gizmo

also anyone know what a good turbo would be to use on a GTS if your not planning on replacing pistons and only running 5-6psi for fastest spool up.

GT Turbo Kit Stage 1
Price: 3490 | All Models | Performance || Add to cart | Show cart

The C2 POWER Toyota Celica (1ZZFE) turbo kit stage 1 is a simple bolt on kit, with least modification on your car possible. It is a complete kit, you get everything in the pack that is neccesery to get your turbo kit on the road.

THIS IS FOR OFF-ROAD USE ONLY!!!

These kits are set to a power rate, witch does not cause excessive stress for the stock engine. You can expect about 50% power gain, with excellent mid range response. We measured 200-210hp, it can produce boost from 2000 rpm, and full boost (6-8 psi) is available well below 3000 rpm. This kit is our choice for an excellent daily driver. You can raise the boost with an aftermarket boost controller, but it is not recomended by C2power.
If you looking for even more power look at the stage 2 upgrade

In the kit you get:

Garrett gt28r turbo preset at 0.4 bar
medium sized intercooler
greddy emanage, harness, with preloaded map
polished sainless steel piping and tubular manifold
hoses
water and oil lines to turbo and out
oil line flange
Blow off valve (BOV)
BOV flange
Price for the stage1 kit is

for US. costumers $3490 USD + shipping
for european costumers 3490 Euros (incl. sales tax) + shipping
Available options are:

Apexi Intake with costum adapter $150 USD or 150 Euros (incl sales tax)for european costumer Our kit can use the stock airbox, if you don't have it anymore, you need this option. Unfortunatly you can't use your aftermarket CAI.
Large sized intercooler of the stage 2 kit. $250 USD or 250 Euros (including sales tax) for european costumers.

The GT uses the Garrett gt28r turbo so dont' know where you are getting that info from. Remember this is just for the stage 1.

I may get the GT30R turbo, its bigger then the c2 gas one.

my buddy is making all my piping and everything.

www.neukin.com

We will be selling a few after we make mine. He is also making a full exhaust for me aswell.

I'm going to be going pretty hardcore with the turbo eventually.

They must have changed their kits, then, because it used to say it included the Borgwarner. download the install/part manual, it still lists and shows a picture of the Borgwarner K04 turbo.

hmm was thinking I could build my own turbo for a lot cheaper but not that much cheaper if I go with the garret turbo that's 1grand and e-manage is another 500, powerfc is better though right? so that'd be 2 grand then bov another 100-200, boost controler another 200-400, oil lines and such should be expencive maybe 100 for all of them and then a mandrel bent tube kit for antoher few hundred. could probably do it all yourself for 3grand save about 1-2grand on kits out there but would be a hell of a lot more work. how much ya going to be selling your turbo home made turbo kits for GTSbyTRD?

We'll find out after mine is made, it should be done by begining of april.

My buddy that is making all my tubing and everything is now a wholesaler also, and can buy parts cheaper.

I'll have a big post once everything is on, and when it gets tuned and dynoed.

My kit may cost a little more, I'm adding injectors and possibly a garret GT30R turbo. And I'm going to be running my car with a powerfc not an emanage. Also, he is making me a full 3" exhaust, and a custom Intake setup too. Its pretty exciting!

I'll keep everyone posted.

PS. anyone know what MWR charges to tune?

You'll also want to upgrade your fuel system(injectors and fuel pump) for the increase in air flow and your cooling system(radiator and hoses) for the increase in heat. Also beef up your drive train.

Well we updated the gt kit with the GT28r, so we do not need to deal with 2 turbo orders. We tested this turbo and the results are great. the K4 is not small at all, it is perfect for st1 kits and a bit small for st2. Thx for the advantage of the ball bearing we are able to use now a bigger turbo on the GT kit as well, so it is the gt28r from now. Also the guys in the GB had that upgrade in their kit for no extra costs. This was a surprise from us.

sweet to hear that, gas. i was going to send you an e-mail a few weeks ago wondering why the GTS kit got the Garret. Why did you go with that to begin with?
