smileFinally a topic I can relate to. I have a 2002 celica. For the first while I was cautious also. But then I was bored one day and read the instruction book that came with the car. It tells you haw fast you can go in each gear etc... I think fourth gear was something like 149 kmh. I took this to the road one day and it turns out that this was around 6800 rpm. My car has the rev limiter on it It does not cut off the fuel supply, just slows it down. (On a track of course)--i had my car opened up to a top speed of about 220 kmh at 6800 rpm. It will not go any faster than that. I don't have any pics of the speedo and tack at this time but just ask and I will be glad to go and do that onee!!! HAHAHAHAHAH

Okay .. a typo above..
Here it is...right out of the Operators manual.
in regards to a manual 5speed
"Maximum allowable speeds
To get on a highway or to pass slower traffic, maximum acceleration may be necessary. Make sure you observe the following maximum allowable speeds in each gear:
5-speed
gear kmh (mph)
1 56 35
2 92 57
3 126 78
4 171 106"

So as it would happen, fourth gear is at 171kmh and the engine is at 6800rpm. put it in 5th gear and go to the same maximum allowable engine speed and calculate where it would get you for top speed.

i've hit the limiter before, mostly when peeling out. it just bounces off a little, nothing else.
