I drove in a scion tc that was lowered with trd springs and it was the first time the ride was great and not bumpy in a lowered car. I am maybe thinking about getting trd springs with the trd struts. My questions...

1) Shocks and struts come in the same assembly so they are the same thing correct?

2) How long will the trd struts last once I lower it and put them on?
I want to know if I should get the struts installed when I put on the springs to bring down install cost if the struts will last long.

3) I know that the trd struts are just 'rebadged' kyb gr-2's but half the time I hear people say rebadged I know that the product is really just made by the same company but it is changed slightly for trd. Are the trd's and gr-2's the exact same or are they changed slightly? The difference in price would only be 40 dollars so I am not sure if it even matters.

4) This is my daily driver. I am use to parking over curbs with my front bumper lol. Do you think the ride will be too harsh even though the trd's only drop it over just an inch?

Thats all I got for now and thanks for answering.

I have TRD Springs, and I don't think the ride is bad at all. I don't know about the shock though... i know they are made by KYB as you said thats it. As for the curb thing next time you park the car look at the front bumper if there is less then an inch then it won't fit.

Yeah I think I barely fit over the curb when I park so I will have to pay attention to that if I lower it. I think trds would be the best for me since I dont want a bumpy ride at all. Can anyone help with the other questions. O yeah and I heard you have to get an alignment after and then someone said to get an alignment every 6 months eek If I get the initial alignment and dont get another alignment will that be okay?

you can get a set of gr-2s for 230 bucks for all 4. you can get a set of kyb agxs for 300 for all 4. trd struts will run you from 400-450...

i suggest the AGXs for adjustability. I have the trd struts and believe me even the struts themselves are engraved KYB GR-2...so they are teh same.

i had trd springs before and speaking with other members the drop varied from 1"...to 1.25"...to 1.3"...they were nice springs and not too harsh as they were progressive and not linear like the hotchkis.

if you want a .8-1" drop then i suggest the tein H-tech (not S-tech 1.5" drop)

Good to know. thumbsup I will have to see what kinda deal I can get on the trd's. Just looking online for a few mintues I found 550 for the springs and struts. I think TRD is probably the way to go since the H-tech's would not be really all that noticeable and I would like it to be a little more noticeable than that since it costs so much to lower. So how often should you get an alignment after you have springs on and how long will the struts last?

Struts will last just as long if not longer than the stock struts since the drop isn't that low.

So if I get the trd struts and shocks put on at say, 50,000 miles, they will last the life of the car? Say 100,000 miles on the new struts and shocks?
