So I have an Eclipse CD85454 and I recently took off my battery. When I turned the car back on, the HU had all these numbers or letters(cars in the shop cant remember) and I couldn't do anything. If I remember correctly, don't the Eclispses have CD Keys or something. If they do, I do not have one since I bought mine used and the guy must have neglected to give me it. So what do you suggest? Can I go buy a CD to make it work?

You need to call eclipse and if you can verify that the unit is yours and not stolen they will give you a rolling code to unlock it.

what did you use to install it in the first place? if you had it working at one point, you must have had the key cd at some point.

could you or one of your buddies made on out of a cd you have in your car?
I know my girlfriend made one for me, and i thank god, i only had one cd in the car at the time, i have since then re-set it... On a side note, do NOT try over and over... if your not sure, just call eclipse, and if you have all the paperwork and such, you should be fine.

When you first get your eclipse deck you have the option of setting a cd key. You stick in a particular cd (any cd in your collection) and lock the deck, incase it is stolen you need to use that cd to unlock it. But since you bought the deck from someone else maybe they locked it with one of their cds, but I dont know if you would have been able to install it in your car if it were locked. Either way try putting in some of your cds that you first used when you installed the deck maybe you accedentally set it as your cd key. Or ask the original owner if they locked it and if so with what cd, then just buy that cd (any cd as long is it is the same will work) and unlock it.

OK, here it is...

How to Cancel the Key CD
Turn the power off
press and hold button 6 then the func button and hold both for more then a second

the display will change to disc and then open.
Insert your key CD into the cd slot.
a cancel message appears and the key cd is ejected.
the key cd is cancled

here is the phone number for eclipse... if you cant find the key cd, call this, after 10 tries, you wil be locked out, and have to send your unit back in.

(800) 233 2216.

If you want me to look up anything else just let me know

this happened on my friends landrover stereo, if the battery dies or voltage drops the stereo locks and you have to send it to the dealer to be unlocked...annoying
