I highly doubt it. Every now and then there are people that want to put a 2zz head on a 1zz, and although they are both 1.8 liter with idential bore pitchs , they are completely different engines otherwise. The 2zz (and 1zz) both have a bore pitch of 87.5mm. With a bore of 87 mm on the 5S-FE, and some metal between the cylinder walls, we could postulate the a bore pitch around 97mm. Essentially, the 2zz head is too small for its valves to sit over the pistons, let alone all the channels and head bolts. And there is no way to make it fit.

I don't think it's "impossible" per-se to build a Hybrid engine from a 2ZZ head/1ZZ block, but it wouldn't just bolt right together like the Honda guys can do, you would need some serious fabrication and custom adaptors to get a 2ZZ head to mate to a 1ZZ block, or any other block for that matter. you have to worry about clearances, oil passages lining up properly, etc. If it was sucessfuly done, I would've heard about it in the forums by now. And even if you could do it, you would have to change things so much that it would pretty much be pointless by the time you're done.

You can take a 1ZZ crank, and use it in the 2ZZ block to stroke the motor, that's sort of a hybrid setup, but you just can't piece together toyota engines like you can with other engine makes.

hes lying.

plain and simple.

theres no way currently to matt a 2zz head to a 1zz block.

the best solution is to use the izz crank remove the oil squirters and make it a stroker, with the 1zz bottom end. but no way is there (and you'd have to ask why the hell you'd want to put a 2zz head on a 1zz or even a 5fe)
