I talked to a Toyota mechanic for a few minutes tonight. He said he just got done taking the TRD SC off of a GTS. He said that if you buy a certain intake manifold, then the SC will fit under the hood. If anyone is interested in this, I say contact TRD and find out for sure. I'm just throwing this out there. I would do more research on it, but I am not interested in SCing my car. If you find out any info. Post it.

A GTS engine Matrix? WHAT!?

He said he took it off of a GTS. We were at the track and as I was leaving he went...'Hey man, I work at Toyota, so if you need anything give me a holler. I just took a SC off of a GTS' I said 'What? I heard that it doesn't fit under the hood' He said 'yes it does, buy an intake manifold with it and it fits'.
So I'm sure TRD knows about this and may have that manifold. It needs some research for sure, but there is some motivation and hope for those who are researching this. I hope DaytonaCelica reads this.

Many toyota techs have said many similar things Dan. I'll be really suprised if TRD actually does it.

the TRD Supercharger comes with the manifold already, i know that the Supercharger will replace the whole Intake Manifold.

heres a pic of a TRD supercharger for another car, you will notice the manifold is already built in, the supechargers for our cars are almost similar to this kind of setup...

Is hood clearance the only issue? I mean, it will fit into the engine bay, yes? If so, I don't see why an aftermarket company can't just make a hood with a slightly raised mid- section.

It would be covered under warranty. All you need to do is find a way to get some hood clearance, assuming it fits snugly in the engine bay.

OK, so I assume Matrix and Corolla 1zz's are tuned different from a GT's 1zz...I'm not sure if the tuning difference would have a detrimental effect if you put one on the GT, though.

But if it did, it'd probably be easy to adjust lambda from a piggy back ECU controller like Greddy's or APEX'i, right?
So, for a GT, all you have to worry about is the hood clearance, once again assuming the charger fill fit into the engine bay.

As far as 2zz is concerned, I haven't heard much about swapping 2zz parts into a 1zz, so what are the specific differences between the two engines? Not sure if a 1zz supercharger would bolt right up to a 2zz...I dunno, I'm outta my element here idunno

yeah, fact of the matter if it does fit in the bay you wouldn't be able to close the hood. many toyo dealers are not very kind to people who get aftermarket parts to make a product fit for a specific car go into your own. they're just bishes that way lol. i swear, i can still remember a toyo service guy telling me my intake makes me slower and to put my stock air box in and to get a valve adjustment because of my intake...crack must be getting cheaper these days. rofl

YO, VSGTS, you work at Toyota right? I'm sure you can find out easier than we can. Use your connections. YOu guys need to takl to him or research it yourself. I just threw this out there. This guy may not have known what he was talking about. I was just sharing something that I heard. I am not interested in the SC, so I don't really feel like looking around for this. Maybe if I have some free time I can find out for you. Til then, you're on your own. I'm not trying to sound rude. Peaceout
