got my 2000 GTS (auto, don't make fun of me plz) last May

i don't know that i've ever experienced lift in it. i know the lift bolts pretty much go bad in almost all of them sooner or later. the car has almost 70k on it now. if i did hit lift, would i definately know it? because i can't say that i've ever been thoroughly impressed when i get up into the high rpms. if i don't have lift and the bolts are broken, would it cause other problems? because the car runs fine. i'm just a little confused. i guess i should have my bolts checked, but it's a waste of money if they're fine. i'm poor right now.

it should studder around 6200rpm and then change tones, turn down stereo while driving and listen for a tone change and a lurch. I dont know if it does this in an auto since i have a manual. If you need lift bolts changed they're like 0.98$ each and theres only 2

well if its the lift bolts, which i highly doubt, just do it urself. its pretty easy. i helped caleb put new ones in his car and only took like 45 mins.
-now i find it kinda funny that you too have this prob when you first got ur car. because i had the exact same prob when i first got mine. and im an auto GTS as well wink, welcome to the club, word of caution ur gonna get flamed for any performance mods you want to do, you will learn this like i did over the years. anyway i thought the same thing that my bolts were broken and i took it out and tried to put it in lift and nothing. well part of ur prob is if you dont have intake and exhaust its not going to be as noticable. another prob is that if ur car is not warmed up the ecu wont let the engine go into lift, so this could be the prob as well. simply go out on a long straight away and floor it in drive and you will see once it gets up to around 6200 rpms the engine will get a lot louder. this is lift. with stock intake and exhaust it just isnt that loud, get some intake and exhaust and you will definately hear it. just put intake and exhaust on mine and i must say that lift is very pronounced, you could hear it just with intake and stock exhaust a lot more. the only way you can really tell if ur bolts are broken is if when you get up to around 6200 rpms and it doesnt go any further past that then, let ur engine idle for a little while or just cruise around for a little while and try it again. if you get the same thing then you may need to change the bolts out thumbsup

hope this helps thumbsup

yea sry made a typo, lift is 6200 rpms not 6800. lift will engage at exactly 6200 rpms. if it shifts before 6200 and you have it floored and it is warmed up, i would check into some lift bolts. if it goes past 6200 then you are in lift, only lasts about a second though, in other gears like second its a little longer and in third its long. never done it in fourth, kinda hard to do, i wouldnt suggest tryin either, lol rofl

The first time I went into lift was 3 months after I bought the car (had to break it in first) and I almost pissed myself cause it was so much fun. (My previous car was a 94 celica GT) grin Anyone else remember their "first time"? grin

Isn't there something too about the LIFT filter that might be plugged up? You may want to check into that and clean yours.

you would def know if you hit lift or not... both in the auto and manual... grin

floor it and wait till 6000 - 6200rpm and get ready to fly~

if you have CAI the sound would be more aggressive during the 2nd and 3rd gear lift in the auto.

LIFT is amazing grin grin

first time i hit lift is when it was raining... then my thought is: i need new tires... lol grin

I hate it when plp pick on the autos. I mean yea, they rnt good for drag...BUT COME ON,its a GTS none the less. Some plp also might have auto (like me) cause I didnt buy the car myself. Plp have reasons for what they got. Anywho...Yea, you should feel lift as long as you follow these two simple rules.
1. Have a GTS Celica rofl
2. Let the temp gauge go up 2 bars

That how I know my baby is ready. I just floor it and BAM!!!!

ok so last night i did what you all said. i had the car warmed up and was on a long stretch of road where i usually get up to 80 or 90 every time i drive there. i floored it all the way up past 6200 and it kept pulling all the way almost to 8000, but there was no pronounced "boost" of power or anything. it just kept accelerating and the engine was loud, but... i dunno.

if you didn't hear any change in sound... or feel the boost... then there's probably something wrong

I test drove an auto and felt lift pretty good. Id open the engine and check your bolts changing them is real easy uunless ones broken. I was able to change one myself and had to take it to the dealer to remove the second broken one but it was all warrenty work. Good luck.
