ok, before i even consider installing a turbo system in the celica im definately am gonna do internal work first (and maybe i wont have to get a turbo if the internal work is enough). what i need to know is what parts do you guys recomend? stuff like the crank shafts, connecting rods, low compression pistons, cams. and where can you get all of these? whats the possible power gain from just internal works? also, can you do the internal works just to a certain point so you can leave the engine block stock?

well. You will need new rods and valves for sure. You could get some new pistons (depemnds on GT or GTS). If GTS go for it, I think the GT is ok. But if you want to upgrade them to forged pistons which is better, then do it. As for that, thats about all the internals that you NEED for better boost. They have cams for turboed cars which are AWESOME! Other than that, you are set. Crower makes rods, wiseco makes pistons, valves (talk to a machine shop near you).

check out crower.com and monkeywrenchracing.com

sorry for double posting but about the pistons, will you lose power if you have pistons with compression ratio fit for a turbo system if you dont have turbo for the vehical or does it not matter?

A higher compression gives you more hp with a NA vehicle. Lower compression for more boost from a FI vehicle. So if you lower your compression, yes you will be slower without the FI.

Its cool man. There was a time that I didn't know it either. Everytime someone said an NA civic, I always thought it meant Not Applicable, lol. I never told anyone though, I just acted like I knew what they were saying.

NA or N/A means Naturally Aspirated. Meaning all engine, no Nitrous, turbo, Supercharger. Its all cams, internals, boltons, etc.

FI or F/I means Forced Induction, Forced Inducted, etc. Meaning Turboed, Supercharged or Nitrous.

Comprende? heh

we've all heard that there's no turbo kit for the GTS or something like that over and over again cos of the high compression of it's engine. I just realized something (this seems so simple that it sounds dumb), cant you just do internal work like changing pistons to lower the compression so you can better apply turbo for the GTS? (i swear i saw a turbo kit for the GTS somewhere before though...)

Hey buddy, there is a turbo kit for the GTS. XS Engineering makes it. They pulled some nice numbers with it, but if you lower the compression, you will be able to boost more and get even better numbers. Get it? Good luck
