So, what do you think is it worth it or not? I am in libmo because most all things that you port and polish are more efficient when they are done. Well let me know what you all think. I have an intake to so I think these mods will go well together.

porting the intake, I'm guessing you mean the same kind of thing as porting headers, but on your intake. I don't know, I wonder if parts will be damaged, cause intake manifolds' metal is a lot thinner than headers.

If you port your Intake manifold you should also Bore your thottle body that way theres a better flow of air from the intake all the way to the block. Also porting the Intake manifold is ok as long as you dont go over bored, just port match the manifold to be safe.

I take it the GTS intake manifold is not plastic? The GT is. This would be very cool to see how much it will gain but make sure you comfortable being the guinea pig and know it might not gain really anything. If you know that I say go for it.

I need some more opinnions before I do this mod. I might need one of the big dogs to help me on this one. I think that you are right though CmyGTS. What exactly is port matching? Going over the limit will just add extra stress because the head is not ported to match.

Check that, here is what BB said

I bought a semi P&P head off one of the members here, and also ported and polished my stock intake manifold and header. The intake manifold had a step where the runner pipes met the flange, so I just grinded that down with a die grinder, then used abrasive rolls (wound up sandpaper) with the die grinder to smooth out the grinding marks, then used some polish to smooth it out even more. On the header, the flange actually covers up a lot of the runners, creating restriction. I grinded those all away and sanded and polished them. There is a dyno proven 5hp gain from doing this. I also polished up the combustion chamber of the head and smoohted out the ports a bit more.On the head, you'd definitely want to get it done by a pro. All the cylinders need to match, and the porting job needs to be even throughout each port for it to be effective. The intake manifold is kinda tricky to do yourself, since it's aluminum and the cutting bit tends to get stuck to it (even with grinder's grease). The header is a piece of cake, though, being made of steel. It's definitely the best place for a beginner to start, since it's pretty hard to mess up as long as you take your time. Not sure about the pricing if you want to get them professionally done, but it shouldn't take more than a day to do.

But it sounds like he is saying 5whp with port and polish with the intake manifold and header so if you arent doing header expect less.

So what would I tell the Machinist to do? Would he have to match the porting? I have the DC Sports header, which sucks by the way, so you think that I should port that too!

Def. port the header if you can. Find out if you should port your stock header or the dc header. I think I remember hearing the dc header was already ported???

Edit: Okay dont port the dc header apparantly. All this is thanks to Blue Bomber.

I have the DC Header. I was not going to port it myself. I was going to take it somewhere to get this done. I have no idea how to port this thing so I am going to now break it and have someone do it for me!

From what I understand, the dc header is fairly smooth and doesnt really need the p&p. The stock header seems would be better from the port and polish.

porting the header alone has gained 5whp for people. I personally dont think you'll gain anything by workin on the intake manifold.

however since it hasnt been proven on a dyno or with proper flowbenching here's what you should do...

step 1 - get it dynoed BEFORE anything is changed.

step 2 - get the Intake manifold flowbenched

step 3 - get the manifold ported and polished

step 4 - get it flowbenched again

step 5 - dyno it again.

this will show you every step of the way what the results of getting this done are. thats the ONLY way to know if it was a worth while endeavor.

i'm saying nobody knows for sure since is never been done.

in the intrest of power and performance you sometimes have to be a test dummy. and be willing to waste a bit of money for that "just in case it works" mod.

also proper testing is THE ONLY WAY you'll know if the money was well spent or not.
