installed the apexi safc today!

hey yeall just got done installing my apexi safc...havent fine tuned it yet cause dont have all the mods done on it that i wanna do but i have given her some more fuel just to see what she does and suprisingly the car sounds a lot louder and seems more peppy...im not sure why people were saying the apexi safc dont work for our celicas but they sure do and the install manual even said so...so just thought id let you all know and this weekend ill be gettin my dc sports header put in...then all i need is a CAI and i should have just about everything done to the damn thing...notta whole lot left to do i guess for performance wise...if anyone has any ideas on performance left to do to it let me know...take it easy everyone

Get a PFC

Go dyno and tune and two weeks later go dyno again

Your ECU is going to override it's smarter than you think

I've heard the the Split Second works as well. It's used in the Stafford Fabrication Turbo Kits I believe, unless you choose to go with the PFC instead.

so have any of you actually tried the safc...cause eveyone says they dont work...well it does...you just have to wire it right in the computer...i guess apex is lying too when they say that it works for the 1zzfe and the 2zzfe yr99.5 and above...but yeah...so unless you all have tried it dont knock it and like GTRMLR_1 dont believe everything that you read...

just for discussion:

here is what I posted somewhere else on the internet (you probably can guess):

Subject:
All piggybacks not created equal. Why?

What one person replied:

Quote:
S-AFC do not control enough parameter to fool the ECU.
E-Manage and FTC1-E also sends stock O2 signal to ECU which S-AFC do not, so the ECU can not detect the difference thus not adjust to compensate.

Dont tell people to try something when it is evident that it does not work slap We dont have to all try it when everyone who has used it knows the stock ecu overrides it. I understand your gonna be mad that it doesnt work in a few weeks but take your dont knock it until you try it attitude elsewhere.

The celicas computer does reset all piggy back systems after a set amount of time. Many people on here have tried the chip and after a week or so, the changes are reset. Apexi and Jet are both good chip companies, but the SAFC and jet chips truely dont work on celicas. We are not trying to be a smartass about this, but truely, they dont work. Right now, the best/only chip available is the Apexi- PFC which is a standalone ECU, which means you take your stock one out and replace it.

I guess you should state how long you had your SAFC installed in your car. Yeah it may work for now but after a while your car's ECU will start to by pass your settings. slap Why don't you start searching first and see why 9 out of 10 say it doesn't work. rofl

The reason I was being harsh with you is so that you can take a closer look at how you are talking and realize you are not being very smart. Whether you actually realize that is up to you.

What he said but e-Manage works (I have had it for a while) and it appears that the split second works too, although I would look into that more.

Yes, e-manage does work. But the most reliable one is the PFC.
