well after reading all this stuff about landing in lift. i went out for a test drive in my 00gts. i dont really drive it that hard often because i enjoy the car too much.i hit exactly 8000rpms in first and shifted into second, landing lift at 6500rpms.. with no problem. i know some of you are going to question this but i have no reason to ly. i agree the higher you take the rpms the higher you will land in rpms. so if you were to take it the fuel cutoff(8400) maybe you would land at 6700gs? anyhow, my point is that i landed lift in first today with out going over redline.
ok I'm not about to get into the explination on why this is physically impossible so please for your own sake just accept what I'm going to tell you
the reason you landed at 6,500 rpms when shifting at 8,000 is because of wheel spin. lots of wheel spin. had you NOT had excessive wheel spin you would've landed around 5700 - 5800 rpms.
this is why people who first use slicks or drag radials for the first time get slower. you have to learn more precise timing on your shifts since you wont be getting any wheel spin https://www.celicahobby.com/vip/albums/album20/TTFN.wmv
^^ this video is a perfect example of no wheel spin. I land at exactly 6500 rpms shifting at 8500 rpms ( I don't have stock limiter)
hopefully this makes sense to you so I won't have to get into the whole gearing equations to show why its physically impossible
cause that stuff is no fun to read.
