01' 6speed gts not starting up.
couple of minutes ago about to head to the store, start up the car, it doesn't start up but radio and headlights still work. car doesn't make any noises at all just silent everytime i tried to start it up. i know for the past 2-3days i have to literally step on the clutch all the way down hard before i can start it up, is that normal? I know i changed the spark plugs about 3-6 days ago with bosch platnium +4.
What should I be looking for & what are the possible reasons why it's not starting up? Any check list?

Maybe its the cutoff switch for the starter. Normally, the switch prevents the car from being started if the clutch isn't pressed down; its a safety feature. The switch might just be stuck, or have some other problem. Its probably down by the clutch somewhere, but I've never checked around down there myself to see where it is. I'd check into that first.

ok, i went to try again, no luck. I do notice everytime i try to start it up, my clock and radio only dimms, but interior light stays on normally. my headlights turn on fine, I seem to have all power except it doesn't start up..

OK, I tried turning the key on my stick GTS with the clutch not depressed. The clock and radio dims just like yours. One way or another, your starter is simply not getting power. The primary culprit is the cutoff switch. Maybe its just out of alignment? I'm not sure if it CAN get out of alignment; I was just checking around by feel in the dark just now. The switch comes out of the floor just to the left of the clutch pedal lever; its a long, slender push button. When the clutch is pushed in, it has to be able to depress that switch. Try pressing the switch with your hand (make sure the car is out of gear with the e-brake on), and while pressing the switch, see if the starter will crank.

if you got the floormat down there, it could be kinda blockin the clutch. mine did that, it would get behind the clutch and id have to push as HARD as i could, then i realized what it was doin, so i jus have to pull it back everyonce in a while. you might try that?

this hapend to me before, first thing is those platinum plugs need to go since our cars need iridium plugs like they came with from the factory, then check the battery and the alternator and see if they are good -when my battery went my lihgts and radio still worked but not enough to power the whole car, then i replaced the battery and the car went fine for a week then i found out that the alternator was damaged so that had to be replaced...hope it helps

Sometimes i step on the clutch it starts up fine, but most times, i have to manually push that button with my finger

Hmmm, well, I haven't looked at mine very close yet, but there might be a way to adjust it, or adjust something on the clutch.
