ok so i took my car up to the dealer for my recall and asked for them to check my ac compressor and find out wut codes were settin off the cel..i told them to call me before the car was touched..i was at work and on break i called them at 9 am.. i asked wuts the deal and they said they didnt look at it yet.. so i told em that my ac is maken some noise and i have a cel and i want the codes cleared. so i go back in to work and then at lunch 1130 i call em again and they were like recalls done and we checked the codes and it was missfire codes and running lean now i just had a new ecu put in 16000 miles ago and new injectors and plugs.. but there tellen me i owe them 86 bucks to get the codes pulled and that there wasnt nuthin wrong with it and i didnt agree to the 86 bucks and all that so its like wtf i the kid that was workin on it lied and said that i gave him the go ahead for 86 bucks so tomorrow im gonna go up there and get my money back because its bull shit every time i take my car to that dealer they fuck somethin up

in all fairness...you told them to check for the codes. that's not free (it's $90 where i am..so you got $4 on me ) but yes, toyota dealers generall suck..they rank extremely low in customer satisfaction polls. and with my experience..i'd have to agree.

Why the hell does it cost $90 for them to check codes when autozone does it for free?

^^ because people do it, that's why.
also, autozone uses a handheld obdII scanner..the one toyota uses is larger and is supposedly much more accurate.
for what it's worth though...i've never seen a case of the autozone obdII scanner misidentifying codes and every experience i've had (and heard of)..the autozone scanner said exactly the same thing as the toyota dealerships scanner.
