well. i don't have that bad of problem in my jetta... but what helps is polyeurathane transmition mounts, and dropping the car. but when i still launch (no drop yet got the mounts though) the mounts took a lot out of it but there is still a little bounce. when i drop the clutch at 6500 (thats my redline) i bounce and good amount but leave a good amount of smoke behind me wink so its a fair trade

just upgrade the transmition mounts if you upgrade all your mounts excepcially to poly eurathane... you will shake your brains apart... so just upgrade the transmitions mounts rubber to poly and it will take down wheel hop by 70%

its wheel hop, and the fix is engine mounts made of urethane, downsides is more vibration from engine, but keep doing that and youll break something, i say get the engine mounts and be safer

I think for starters you need to learn how o launch your car properly.

what you're getting is know as wheel hop like it has been mentioned before.

If you go into the racing forum theres a sticky at the top of the page called how to launch your car. It's very informative and you'll most likly learn alot.

3K is far to low to simply dump the clutch. you're not only gonna get the wheel hop but I would bet you're bogging like no tomorrow. If you were to hit a real timed track you'd be amazed how slow your times will come out.

My advice, befor eyou go spending money on mounts, spend the $20 or so and visit a real track. the seat time will be a good learning tool. Also study the launch guide. Then come back with your questions of why you're so slow and we'll be able to give you much more detailed and informative advice.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Now, if you absolutely feel the need to get mounts ( no disrespect meant to jetta man) it doesnt work that way on our cars and leaving smoke behind ya is a good sign you're doin something wrong wink

I only reccomend getting a polyurethane front engine mount. (it sits just under your coolant tank) at most i wouldnt do more then the front and rear. to do all 4 would not be smart cause the mounts do have a purpose. If they arent able to give way then something else will. This could lead to some serious damage.

anyways good luck.

wheel hop can mainly hurt the throttle cable on some cars and pull it out and the axels, which would be espensive to replace thumbsdown

well if you read the thread carefully we point out that it's NOT the RPMS that hurt you but the timing in which you hit the throtle and how much throttle you give it.

also several techniques were discussed including how to launch on street tires.

If you cant launch right on the street you will suck at the track and if you suck on the street you'll suck at the track. once you learn to launch properly, the conditions and surfaces will be of little importance wink
